Check Out Michael Bradford’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Bradford.

Hi Michael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We’re a boutique cardio-kickboxing studio that specializes in promoting empowerment and self-defense, especially for young females, while also offering one of the hardest workouts in town. I’ve been the General Manager here at Fight Club Austin for almost five years – I fell in love with it as a client when it first opened seven years ago and officially joined the team not long after, and it’s been an amazing ride ever since!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This past year has disrupted countless small businesses, gyms especially, and we’re no stranger to that. It’s completely turned everything we’ve historically done upside-down. Thankfully we have a staff and clientele that has been incredibly supportive and adaptable and that has made all the difference!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In my career, I’ve always worked in Operations Management, and being the General Manager at Fight Club allowed me to combine my passion for business with my love of fitness and helping others. I don’t want to think about what I’d be doing otherwise because this role has been incredibly fulfilling being surrounded by so many amazing people that are dedicated to improving their overall health and well-being. We’ve been recognized as the “Favorite Fitness Studio” in Austin five years in a row by StudioHop, and I’ve twice won “Austin’s Most Challenging Instructor” – Those are awards that I’m incredibly proud of both as a group and as an individual. As a gym, I think we’ve set ourselves apart from the fitness chains because we offer an incredibly fun but challenging workout that’s fully customizable. We understand that people have off-days or specific goals in mind when they arrive, and we highly encourage substitutions or modifications based on injuries or preferences. You won’t find any drill-sergeant-like instructors here, only Trainers who want to best help you on your fitness journey.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
We’ve had seven years’ worth of clients, front-desk staff, and instructors that have made this such an amazing community to be apart of! We’re constantly soliciting feedback on how to improve classes or the client experience, and the best ideas often come from the least expected places!
