Community Highlights: Meet Jihan Abdullah of High Vibe Sister – Health & Weight Loss Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jihan Abdullah.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey to becoming an entrepreneur as a health & weight loss coach started in summer of 2020. There was a lot of discussion amongst friends, family and social media about gaining the “Quarantine 15” due to being in lockdown. Gyms were closed and our favorite foods were being delivered from any and all stores and restaurants around the city. As a forward thinker who is extremely passionate about healthy living, I decided to create and provide a solution to help other women get back on track with their nutrition and fitness and shed those extra pounds.

My passion in the health & wellness realm was inspired by my own 75-lb weight loss journey I took on almost five years ago. At the beginning of 2017, I was at my wit’s end with being overweight. Prior to then, I had lived the last ten years of my life with obesity. I tried many diets and programs throughout that time but had never made any real long-term progress. I struggled with unsustainable roller-coaster diets, losing and regaining weight. Everything I tried was an attempted quick fix to a long-term problem, and nothing I did ever addressed the real problems, which were my mindset, habits and lifestyle. I knew that real change never takes place until we’ve gotten to the point where we’ve truly had enough, and in 2017, I’d had enough.

I decided to spend my energy learning how to build sustainable healthy habits through nutrition, fitness, mindfulness and self-love, and after a year, I successfully lost 75 lbs and have kept it off since by adhering to my healthy habits built in these four areas. It took taking things one day at a time, trusting in the process, not giving up or putting it off, staying consistent, and seeing it out through the end to see success. I know the marvelous impact my weight loss had on my life which is what led me to getting certified to help bring life-changing results to others.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One could only hope that starting a business would be a smooth road. As in life, there are so many ups, downs, doubts, certainties, challenges and successes, but overall, it’s the most rewarding decision I’ve ever stepped into.

Everyone who comes to me has a different story, is in a different place with their nutrition and fitness and has different goals for different reasons. As I grow and expand my services, it’s important to keep these things in mind and adapt.

I’m incredibly grateful for the connections I’ve made, mentors I’ve had and even other friends and professionals in the nutrition & fitness industry that have been great supporters and advocates for me and this company.

When someone is struggling with being overweight, it can affect almost every area of their life, bringing feelings of guilt, shame, and more. So regardless of if this road is a smooth one for me, as long as I’m helping my clients tap into their inner strength to develop the self-trust, self-confidence, and self-love necessary to overcome any challenge that may impede on their health and happiness, that’s all that matters at the end of the day!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
High Vibe Sister is health & weight loss coaching service that helps women create healthy habits in nutrition, fitness, mindfulness, and self-love for sustainable weight loss and a healthy, vibrant lifestyle.

My programs lead with a non-gimmick, holistic and sustainable approach to the mind and body as they work together to promote longevity, good health, confidence and happiness for my clients.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, it’s a difficult call to make, especially because of the pandemic. I’ve seen a huge shift from brick and mortar in-person services to online/ at-home training, which is why I offer virtual services as well. I believe the Covid lockdown played a huge part in this as many trainers, health consultants and other businesses had to move their services online to adapt to the state of the world. However, I also believe the client’s trepidation around using an in-person facility may decrease over the next few years.

There are also apps, new high-tech home equipment available for purchase that connects to smart devices, and so much more. So really it’s just up to the individual and what they feel comfortable with. Although many people are back at the gym, many also realized they didn’t need a gym membership to lose weight, get fit and see great results, thanks to at-home programs. Most of my clients utilize my at home workouts and some are just part-time gym goers.
