Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Gareau-Terrell.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story started as a troubled child with a lot of emotional trauma and I am so proud to be where I am today. I graduated from the University of Texas, Austin with an Anthropology degree. I decided that I would need to do more with my life then and decided that I would go to nursing school. I completed my nursing degree and took a job at Seton Main in Austin, Texas in the neonatal intensive care. It was an excellent career move and I loved it there but decided that I wanted more. I completed a Master’s degree for Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. I continued to work for the Seton hospitals but in my new role. I still work in the hospital as a nurse practitioner and it is truly a very difficult job to give up. In the Summer of 2020, I decided to pursue my true passion and open up a Medspa in Dripping Springs, called GLOW Medspa. It has been so much more fulfilling than I would have ever imagine and I have so much pride that I was able to get over my greatest fears and just open GLOW.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The largest struggle is being a new business and probably opening during Covid. People were really weary with Covid but as everyone started to get vaccinated, it felt safer. Being a new business is always a challenge because you have to find new clients. It is an amazing city and I was able to use my existing contacts.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have had an expansive work history. I started my career as a nurse and then went back to get a Master’s degree to be a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. I obtained a Doctorate degree in Nursing after that. I was a practicing Neonatal Nurse Practitioner but I have always had a love for the skill and art with injections. I have always had a passion for bringing enhanced beauty to people but still help them look natural. I took a Women’s Coaching program called, “The Modern Mom” with Lindley Gentile. That is when I was able to get over my fears of opening a business and pursue my true passion. I am a professor in the Nursing Department at the University of Texas and feel educating students and clients is always at the pinnacle of what I offer.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I think being an adventurous person has helped guide my creativity and determination. I am always very eager to grow and learn new things. It drives me to keep going. I also think a true passion for helping people has helped me make many career choices. It is a higher calling that I always feel compelled to do. I operate unconventionally and I always think outside of the box to improve something or make it better.
