Today we’d like to introduce you to Trophyology. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Since its founding in 2011, Trophyology has been setting a new standard and redefining expectations for recognizing achievement. We are architects, sculptors, designers, creatives, and artisans. We draw inspiration from architecture, art, design, fashion, philosophy, psychology, and anthropology. Our combination of thoughtful concepts, advanced design principles, paired with master craftsmanship has established us as a trailblazer and thought leader in an industry ripe for innovation. We are devoted to discovering new ways to express value, honor, and gratitude in elevated material form.
This is why the company is named Trophyology (think biology or geology) – in essence, we created a new field of study: the study of recognition and recognition objects (trophies): Trophyology. Therefore, our team consists of Trophyologyists, accentuating the professionalism and dedication to excellence in our chosen field.
Observing an air of embarrassment around traditional recognition awards, founder Eva Schone set out to change the status quo by creating architect-designed and artisan-crafted recognition objects that are worth giving and worth keeping. After all, why reward a job well done with a trophy that’s not?
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We decided early on to position our work in the realm of sculpture, art, and decorative objects – versus in the promotional products category into which awards frequently fall. Because of this intentional departure, we had to carve out our own space in the market. Luckily, our clients discovered us and continue to seek out the high-quality design and craftsmanship that only Trophyology can offer. We keep our work deliberately minimalist and understated and we abstain from incorporating specific (brand) colors as a part of elevating our work to a form of art. Additionally, one of the most significant design changes Trophyology introduced was to eliminate the traditional trophy pedestal on which an object was mounted along with the typically haphazardly applied nameplate.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Trophyology, we are passionate about elevating acts of gratitude and appreciation to a form of art. We believe in the power of recognition and we’re here to give it the attention and care it deserves by leading the conversation on what it means to recognize well and to honor excellence in style.
Receiving recognition is a primary human need. We all desire to know that we—and our contributions—matter. The right award on the right desk is not only a nod to a job well done, it is also a reflection of exceptional leadership and the values of an organization at large.
What makes you happy?
It’s beautiful and touching to help recognize the best in people; their best expressions of themselves and their best work. People give so much of themselves. They deserve something of value that reflects the qualities for which they are being honored. We couldn’t be happier to be part of this celebration.
