Inspiring Conversations with Devin Grindrod of Spiritually Balanced

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devin Grindrod

Hi Devin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am an energy worker and an intuition development coach. I empower people trust their inner knowing and heal from trauma on an energetic and spiritual level. In both my business and person life, I am passionate about: empowerment, integrity, and love. My mission is to empower those I work with to look within and discover their unique magic. Maintaining integrity in the spiritual business world means teaching a non-fear-based vision and understanding that the human world holds the construct of good and evil, whereas the Spirit world holds only love. Lastly, healing requires us to love ourselves, because when we feel that we are worthy of love, our perspective and expectations of life change. When we start to love ourselves, we understand why healing is our right and that we deserve to be treated with respect by both ourselves and others. My call to entrepreneurship came in 2016 shortly after receiving my Reiki Level 1 attunement. I was feeling pulled in a new direction and knew that my next step was to start my own business. That year I spent a lot of time in introspection. My husband and I had saved up and spent four months traveling all over Southeast Asia. During that time, I thought quite a bit about what my next step would be and developed my business plan as what I thought would be a side hustle. When we returned, I spent the next 4 months applying for jobs with no success. So, I did what any spiritually-minded person does and offered the situation up to Spirit. I asked to be shown what my next step should be and then waited for my answer. The answer came a week later when I was finally called for an interview, by the program manager of an addition recovery facility to talk about Reiki. She hired me on the spot and asked me to have my business up and running within two weeks. That was the undeniable sign I had asked for. Since then, I’ve made some pivots and now work predominantly with private clients. My heart and the drive for my business is in trauma-informed healing, helping people to empower themselves and heal on an energetic and spiritual level.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Most practitioners in the metaphysical field can point their awakenings to two situations. The first being unexplainable events as a child and the second is trauma or serious health issues. My story is no different. As a child, I had encounters with spirits, prophetic dreams, and could strongly feel the emotions of others. I am also a survivor of sexual trauma and suffered from severe health issues like autoimmune disorders, heavy metal poisoning, and daily migraines. My journey into entrepreneurship came from the healing work I did for my trauma and health. One of the most impactful techniques I used to recover from my sexual trauma was yoga. My yoga mat became my safe space and I was constantly amazed by all of the ways in which I could move my body. I knew after my first class that yoga would not only be a permanent fixture in my life, but that I wanted to become a teacher so I could help others to heal as well. This led me to discover trauma-informed yoga. It is a method of yoga that puts the student in charge of their experience by encouraging them to be present to their needs and providing choices of movement. Yoga is the union of mind, body, and spirit and much of trauma-healing work requires the same. When a person feels safe and empowered in their body, they are then able to be in charge of their healing and their experiences. Coming out on the other side of health and wellness was what led me to the work I do today. In order to heal my physical health, I took the route of holistic modalities. This path showed me the importance of healing not only my body, but my mind, spirit, and energetic self as well. I noticed that the more work I did on myself, the more work I felt called to share with the world. In February of 2016, I became a Reiki practitioner and that truly changed the trajectory of my life. Reiki further opened up my awareness to my psychic and healing gifts. Reiki is the channeling of life force energy and the practitioner is the conduit, not the creator of this energy. The more I practiced Reiki, the more I became aware of these gifts. I also believe that becoming attuned to Reiki is what led me to start my business, Spiritually Balanced. As I became more in touch with my new psychic and healing gifts, it felt like a natural transgression to become a spiritual entrepreneur. As anyone who has embarked on the path of spiritual awakening will tell you, it is not all flowers and rainbows or love and light. True spiritual awakening requires a person to look into their darkest shadows of pain through the lens of love so that healing can take place. It is a bumpy road, but the self-discoveries and empowerment you gain along the way make it worth the effort. If you’re on a path of spiritual awakening, it’s important to surround yourself with a strong support network of loved ones, mentors, and practitioners that can help you to navigate your journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
As an intuition development coach and energy worker, I’ve found that one of the most important aspects of healing is trusting yourself. When you are able to not only put your faith in yourself, but to trust the divinity you hold within, that is when you start living life on purpose. Learning to trust your gut, intuition, sixth sense, etc. is part of your right as a human being. Living by this energy will keep you on the path of your soul’s purpose and bring you towards the people and places you need for growth. This is why I’ve shifted my practice to teaching intuition development. I see it as an integral part of empowerment and healing. While I offer many different modalities, what sets me apart from others is the trauma-informed approach in my work. I have been mentored and educated in trauma informed practices for over a decade and strongly feel that when we utilize this work, it can change lives. Having a trauma-informed approach to intuition development and energy work looks like putting the client in charge of their healing by providing a safe environment, offering choices, and clearly communicating the process of the session. I help my clients to discern the difference between their fear/ego and their intuition by feeling into the sensations and learning how the spirit world conveys messages to them. Every single person is born with intuition, it is only through the conditioning of society that we question our inner knowing and learn to rely on external sources. When you can turn your external sourcing inwards, it allows you to reclaim agency over your experiences. This agency allows a person to trust in themselves and make grounded decisions that will keep them on the path of their soul’s purpose. Additionally, Reiki is an ancient healing practice that helps to reduce stress and increase relaxation through channeling the life force energy, which brings balance to both a person’s physical and energetic body systems. The universal life force energy is the energy of all creation and can most simply be described as unconditional love. When healing work is done through the act of love, it creates a safe environment to feel and overcome trauma and other hardships. Reiki helps to heal traumas by transmuting stagnant and heavy energies. It is not limited by time or space, so healing can be done for past experiences and even generational trauma.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
The projects I am currently working on are: developing 1:1 packages and creating a divine self summit with 5 other amazing women. The 1:1 packages are designed as an individualized approach to healing. By committing to either a 3, 6, or 12-month container, you’re saying “yes” to yourself and your healing path. When you make this long-term investment, you’re empowering yourself to make choices that are in line with your integrity and choosing to heal through self-love and compassion. At the end of this journey, expect life changes that include: a level up in standards, increased feelings of self-worth, shifts or confirmation on career trajectory, and a deeper, more connected understanding of yourself. Additionally, I’m working with 5 other women to set up a Divine Self Summit that will run from June 21st-26th. The Divine Self Summit has been created with the intention of shining light onto who you truly are so you can align with your most authentic self and unleash your inner badass. As you gain clarity of your true purpose in this life, you’ll begin to build community and nourish a sense of belonging and true connections with your soul family.
