Inspiring Conversations with Sarah Browne of RAH Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Browne.

Hi Sarah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It was a happy accident. What I mean by that is one day about six years ago, my sister-in-law asked if I could take some headshots for her because I happened to own a DSLR camera from taking journalism classes in college. I was happy to help a family member out, but little did I know that I would discover my passion in life: capturing rare and beautiful moments through my lens. After my sister-in-law posted her pictures on her social media, it led to others asking if I could take pictures for them. The rest is history. Sounds cliché, I know, but it is so true.

Before I knew it, my schedule filled-up and so did my heart because I started seeing how important the pictures I took were for my clients. It is something I cannot really put into words, but thank my clients for every day because they help me to continue to dream big for my small company.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Although I have been doing this for over six years now, I learn something new about photography on a daily basis. Just as much as the world in general is changing, so is photography. It keeps me humble and open-minded. I have always been my biggest critic. I persevere through my critiques by learning and growing with the photography industry. Which leads me to share some advice I wish I had heard when I first started my business: the camera you own does not define who you are as photographer. If your reading this and aspire to be a photographer like me, learn how to use all cameras. Great photographers learn how to use a basic, point and shoot camera as well as a top-of-the-line DSLR camera. Most importantly, learn the fundamentals of photography (ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture) and you will go far in the industry.

I have been blessed with the most supportive husband, family and friends. They really deserve all the credit on getting through all of my challenges because they are the ones that lift me up and continue to push me towards success. Frankly, they are the ones that allow me to annoy them with a camera in their face most of the time to test out new ideas I have that pop-up in my head, locations I have discovered, or lenses that I may have purchased before trying it out on a paying client. I do not know where I would be without them as person, small business owner and photographer. So, thank you all!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about RAH Photography?
There are plenty of photographers out there, so my goal is to let my pictures do the talking for me. I am a natural-light lifestyle photographer based in Austin, Texas. I specialize in seniors, families, maternity, newborns and weddings.

My photography style is organic. I want to find the moments in our sessions that are not always posed but beautiful and timeless. There is just something about capturing a person’s laughter, the ‘almost’ kiss from a couple, a baby’s dimple and a mother’s gaze at her baby bump behind my lens that sparks my passion and feeds my soul. I am known for my affordability and quick turnaround time for clients. I strive for two things during our sessions 1) to become friends and 2) to capture raw and special moments that you will cherish forever.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
