Today we’d like to introduce you to Carson Durden.
Hi Carson, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Carson Durden, but you can call me by my artist name Ei8htman. I am a graphic artist. I started my journey as a kid and always knew I wanted to draw for a living. As a kid, I remember my mom got me a Marvel encyclopedia book and I was obsessed with the stories and the artist’s work. As life went on I had to find my journey to become a story writer/ artist. I’ve made animations and short stories through the years, but now I am releasing my first series “Angelic Gemstones” in September of 2022.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It had not been an easy road. In the beginning, you have this idea, but sometimes you have to think about is it too much? Is it enough? Will people like my idea? I had these questions all the time, I had to sit down and really time manage so I can feel comfortable as my process is going.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in superhero design and color. I love creating new characters or recreating characters in my style. When I draw I not looking to please the viewer, but I want to the viewer to see what I see like a lens.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I was about 9 or 10 years old my brother and I were driving around Austin with my late grandpa in his old school yellow Cadillac (maybe 1970). I remember driving all around the city with them and we stopped at Jerry’s Artarama. As a kid, I kinda knew he was an artist, but I never really saw him work or talk about it a lot. We went on a whole shopping spree. He needed out about art and it was one the most memorable thing I remember and especially about him.
