Today we’d like to introduce you to Enid Jones.
Hi Enid, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started photographing families in 2008 without any real intention of doing it as a career. I was in school to be a medical assistant at the time. But by 2010, I realized my schedule was filling mostly with photo work and growing! I decided to look into starting a Business. I didn’t officially launch my Business until 2016. I was still mainly a portrait photographer but was starting to dip my fins into the marketing world. We had recently moved to Texas so making the pivot at that time felt right. I have since really grown and made a name for myself in the marketing world. I love helping my clients make a SPLASH online! Just before the pandemic hit, I also started offering basic management services for my brand photography clients. This positioned me very well once all the businesses around me had to go virtual! I am so thankful for that timing and for that pivot. Now, I am offering full content packages and management packages. It’s been one heck of a tide but I wouldn’t trade it for the world!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh there have been many storms! My biggest struggle personally has been with knowing my worth. Not having any business background, education or examples… I felt like a fish out of water! It took me a long time to take myself seriously. After all, if you don’t believe in yourself, how can anyone else!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I help you make a splash online with quality brand photos, captivating captions and making your audience feel connections to you and your work. I am best known for how I make people feel. There are no dumb questions and if you have a desire to learn the process, I am happy to teach. Everyone that works with me feels they have a better understanding of how social media works and how to make meaningful connections virtually. I am most proud of helping others find their confidence. I struggled so much in this area. It brings me so much joy to see others have that moment of freedom where they realize the power of their voice.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
One of my favorite quotes comes for the Harry Potter series “It doesn’t do to dwell on dreams…. and forget to live!” I believe that we as human beings are created to take risks. We are made for greatness! You will never know your full potential if you’re always playing it “safe.” I started my Business without knowing how to use the manual settings on my camera… I always shot “Safe” in Auto. I have since learned! I invested over 10k in courses to learn how to promote my business only to find out the process was outdated and was for a different kind of photographer! I learned how to research better! I risked being humiliated over and over by offering my services to strangers in person and online just to find the few that LOVED me! Another favorite quote is “A boat in harbor is safe but that is not what ships were built for!” Get out of your familiar ponds and puddles! Dive into the deep blue sea and make your dreams realities!
