Meet Rachel Anthony of New Hope Realty Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Anthony.

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I moved to Austin after graduating college with my degree in Marketing and accepted a sales assistant job at iHeart Media. Throughout my time at iHeart Media, my goal was to be promoted to an account executive. I didn’t understand why at the time, but it seemed like that opportunity was never going to happen for me! I began exploring other career options but I was stumped on what I wanted to do…I had no idea! One day, I was looking through the Austin Women’s magazine and read about a woman named Tiffani Marroquin and how she had a successful local and global real estate career. I went out on a limb and messaged her on Instagram to see if she would be interested in being a mentor, not ever expecting to get a response, nonetheless, what happened next. Over the next couple of months, Tiffani and I stayed in close contact, went to lunch, and a few different events together. Then the unexpected happened, COVID-19, and my world got turned upside down, just like many others. I found myself with a lot of time on my hands because I had been furloughed from my position at iHeart Media. After much encouragement from Tiffani, I started my real estate journey. I began taking an online course to get my real estate license, and by August 2020 I was a licensed Texas real estate agent! Not long after that, Tiffani had recommended I go and meet with a team located in Cedar Park that was looking for a new agent to join. At first, I didn’t think much of it…at that time I was living near downtown Austin and didn’t travel to North Austin much at all. But, I went out on another limb and went to meet Micah and Renee, who is now my team leaders/mentors, and I could not be happier. I joined the New Hope Realty Group team and now live in Cedar Park because that is where the majority of my business comes from. But, it doesn’t end there…our team consists of a total of eight agents including myself, and amongst those agents is Chassey Wallace. Unbeknownst to me, Chassey is part owner of a home building company in Lago Vista, which is located on the Northside of Lake Travis. After being on the team for a couple of months, Chassey asked me if I would like to assist her with her business…to which I responded with, absolutely! That “assistant role” has now turned into a full-time sales position for Kenwood Homes. It is crazy to take a step back and look at what I thought the plan for myself was when I moved to Austin in 2018…an account executive position at iHeart Media, and now I am a licensed Texas real estate agent along with handling the sales of spec/custom homes for Kenwood Homes, and I couldn’t be happier! For me, the pandemic was a blessing in disguise, it presented me with an opportunity that I may have never had otherwise and is honestly a big reason for where I am at today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to get where I am today was not easy. Like many others, I lost my job and found myself feeling extremely hopeless, lost, and confused. Had it not been for the amazing women I met along the way who provided me with much encouragement, I may not have been confident enough to take a jump into a new career path.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a licensed Texas real estate agent on the team, New Hope Realty Group located in Cedar Park. I provide real estate services for buyers and sellers. I primarily work in the North Austin area and Lago Vista but can work throughout the entire Austin metroplex. I specialize in the sale of new construction homes and purchasing unimproved land, especially in Lago Vista. Being part of the Kenwood Homes staff sets me apart from others because I am exposed to the home building process from start to finish, and because of that, I have a great understanding of the process and can provide an excellent service to my clients to make sure they have a full understanding of what all goes into building their dream home. Working in Lago Vista has also given me a great wealth of knowledge in purchasing undeveloped land. Lago Vista is one of the few places surrounding Austin that people are still able to purchase a vacant lot at a reasonable price. But, there is a lot to know about the area, such as the topography, whether the lot has utilities readily available, the building accessibility, etc, and there are few agents that are knowledgeable about the above things, simply because they are not in the area enough. My team, New Hope Realty Group has a much different approach to working with clients than some other teams. All the agents on our team genuinely want to help our clients and care deeply about each of them. To us, forming relationships and being able to help our clients whether that’s selling, buying, or building their dream home is more important to us than anything else. We are under the brokerage of White Label Realty and our fearless leader, Amber Brown has made it her mission to ensure this is how all of her agents treat every client. The beginning of our momento states, “We believe that family comes first and vow to treat every agent, client, and vendor as if they are family. We allow ourselves to laugh together, support one another, share with each other and even cry together. Most importantly we love each other exactly as we are, imperfections and all.”

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Confidence in yourself to have the courage to take a leap of faith and meet new people and be open to trying something new. I also feel that it is very important to treat everyone you meet with kindness and a giving heart because you never know how it might help that person, and in return, how they might be able to help you one day.
