Hi JANNA, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I embarked on my journey in the insurance industry about four and a half years ago. As a Colombian immigrant, navigating my professional path in this country has presented its challenges. However, my personal experiences with insurance ignited a passion within me to pursue a degree in the field. My goal is to equip myself with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide clear, accurate information to the Latino community. I am commited to create pathways for understanding and ensure that all individuals can access the resources they need.
I started my journey as a captive agent with a life insurance company, which I am truly grateful for, as it provided me with the opportunity to begin my career. After progressing to the role of zone supervisor, I decided to expand my business from a part-time venture to a full-time operation, also incorporating health insurance, specifically in the ACA (Obamacare) market. It has been a long and rewarding journey, opening many doors—some with challenges, but all offering valuable lessons. This path led to the establishment of TU ASESOR LATINO LLC, a comprehensive insurance agency, just two years into my career. We are physically present in Texas, California, and Florida, providing services across 26 states, primarily in health and life insurance. Our main mission is to offer holistic support to the community, helping individuals and families navigate the process of protecting themselves and their loved ones in every aspect of life. To achieve this, we have expanded our offerings to include auto, property, commercial, and travel insurance, as well as benefit packages for employees of small and medium-sized businesses. Looking ahead, our goal is to reach larger companies and further enhance our impact. We have great allies in taxes and immigration document preparers as an added service for our Latin community, which was the one who saw us born and has accompanied us throughout this career. Not without first adding that our American community has been growing more and more and in which we hope to be able to provide support to their families or companies as much as necessary.

Additionally, our American community has been steadily growing, and we look forward to supporting their families and businesses with the same dedication and commitment.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey hasn’t been easy for me since I migrated to this country six years ago, but I have a lot of gratitude for the opportunities it has provided. My family found the security here that we could no longer find in our home country.
Like many migrants, I started with jobs in cleaning and painting, all while holding with proud onto the fact that I had a professional background back home. However, I faced significant barriers, not only with the language but also with the validation of my credentials.
Eventually, I found a path to validate my qualifications, but I was faced with a crucial decision: should I pursue validation in my career or try something entirely new that will give me the opportunity to help my Spanish-speaking community. I chose to start into a new path, studying for my life and health insurance license, which allowed me to work primarily with the Spanish-speaking community. This was a significant shift, but it enabled me to use my language skills while balancing my roles as a mother, wife, and sister.
There have been moments where I’ve had to work with my young children by my side, rushing from appointments to pick them up from school or attend their meetings. Since arriving in this country, I’ve been dedicated not only to providing them with a better quality of life but also to being a present and engaged mother. My goal is to ensure they have a brighter future while I navigate this journey.
As a woman, every day has been a challenge, but I firmly believe that giving up is not an option. I feel that if God has given me the gift of service, I must embrace it wholeheartedly. Throughout my journey, I’ve faced circumstances that have allowed me to grow, learn, and strengthen my resilience. I trust that if I’ve come this far, it’s because I’m meant to overcome these challenges and even more.

What does success mean to you?
I define success as an intrinsic and personal journey that goes beyond wealth or power. It’s about the path you take to achieve your goals while holding onto the values and convictions you’ve learned at home. True success is waking up each morning with good health and the support of family who believe in you.
It’s about having a purpose, designing a path, and striving to fulfill it. I find success in knowing that I’ve been able to help others improve their lives, ensuring they can navigate challenges—like avoiding financial strain from medical bills—without losing their peace of mind.
Every firm step you take each day is a sign of success. The journey itself, filled with meaningful actions, leads to achieving your objectives. I believe success can be found in the small, everyday moments of life, which many people overlook for various reasons. Over time, we’ve tended to forget the simple joys that can lead to a fulfilling life. In essence, what starts as simple can evolve into something profound and complex in life.
