Hidden Gems: Meet Aubrey Shaw of Hill Country ONE Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aubrey Shaw

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started in real estate in 2008, too green to realize we were at the start of the great recession and one of the slowest housing markets in history. I did a lot of leasing that first year and got good at foreclosures and convereting for sale by owners. I survived. I even won Rookie of the Year at my brokerage. I spent the next 4 years getting training, via classes, mentors, partnerships, etc. And I sold a few homes as well. I went on to build a team of agents at my brokerage. I found real estate could be a lonely business and I thrive when working with others. We sold a lot of real estate and I got better at customer service and staying in touch with my clients after closing. I started to build my book of business and use it. In 2019 I made the move to a new brokerage that focused on systems and growing your number of sales. My sales increased with systems and automation. I hired an assistant and my life got a little easier. In 2023 I went out on my own and started Hill Country ONE Realty. We are a brokerage that specalizes in selling residential properties in the Texas Hill Country. I am loving building a culture of kindness, education, professionalisim, and excellence. This new role does not come without challenges, as I learn how to sucessfully run a brokerage – something I’ve never done before. But it’s worth it and I’m having so much fun! In the next year, I hope to grow HcONE to 20 agents, that value collaboration, education, professionalisim and kindness.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Is real estate a smooth road or anyone?! This is a challenging job. You never feel like you can stop. If you stop, you aren’t making money. That’s the story I told myself for a long time. It took years of running off of what felt like “luck”, before I knew enough to create systems and automate and set boundaries and value myself. I call it getting organized and I still have a lot of work to do! But, with time, it does start to come together. It’s not as fast most of us would like, but sucess is nearly guranteed in this industry if you do the work. I’m a hard worker and I don’t give up easily. That really helped me through some lean years and tough transactions. You have to keep pushing in this business. If one transaction doesn’t work out, I hope you were on that horse looking for the next deal while you worked that one. Clients will value you as much as your value yourself and no more. As the professional consultant, you set the expectations up front and lay out the process. Before I learned these things – I had a lot of stories of struggles with clients. Now, I still have some – I mean people are people. But they are far fewer, and I get out or fix the situation a lot faster now. I enjoy working with people and I love helping them accomplish big goals. Big goals can be scary, but they are worth it. No guts, no glory. That’s why I’m in this business, to help people accomplish big things.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Hill Country ONE Realty?
A year ago, I started Hill Country ONE Realty, located in Spicewood TX, and the heart of The Texas Hill Country, spanning Dripping Springs, Lake Travis, Burnet County, and the Austin area. We specialize in helping people buy and sell real estate in these areas. We focus on educating our clients on the different areas and how they can make the smartest purchase for their goals. The market is ever changing, but Central Texas remains a place to make solid real estate purchases. It’s also home to all of our agents at Hill Country ONE Realty. We know this area inside and out and are excited to show off what’s so great about The Hill Country. We value kindness, collaboration, eduction, creativity, and experience. We aim to be our clients Realtor for life, not just one transaction. We do this by providing value to our clients throughout the year, updating them on their home value, and area activity effecting their largest asset. We are always just a phone call away.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Making friends in real estate is key to any agents success. I have had many friends and mentors throughout my career that have helped me and I have hopefully helped them as well.
