Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Corley
Hi Amy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I became passionate about photography when I was in my freshman year of high school. I knew I wanted to do it as a profession when my dad let me borrow his camera he used in college. I attended a school for business and photography after graduating high school that launched me into developing my skills as a professional photographer. I always loved shooting portraits and making people feel there best, but my true ambition was to work in commercial photography.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Through out my career I experienced highs a lows of the business. I moved to New York shortly before the recession in 2008 eight and was temporarily laid off right after arriving in the city. I slowly had to work my way into the freelance world and which brought plenty of challenges earning an income. Some months I would only make enough money to just pay my rent. There were also more successful months where I would thrive and engage in meeting wonderful and creative people.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in family portraiture and events now that I’ve lived in Austin for the past eight years. I love working with individuals as well as companies local to Austin such as Four Hands, Kendra Scott, and Forsite studios, Hill House interiors, and I am Total Wellness Center. I’m most proud of my ability to connect with people and getting the most authentic and beautiful version of themselves to translate in their images.
What makes you happy?
I love spending time with my two wonderful children and my fun and handsome husband Kenneth. Recently I’ve launched into writing. I’ve loved the processes and hope to continue with it in the future.
