Check Out Katy Frazier’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katy Frazier

Hi Katy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Once upon a time in the heart of Austin, where “Keep Austin Weird” is less a motto and more a lifestyle contract, the seeds of Plant Lady ATX were planted—literally. Like any good origin story, it began with a passion, a little bit of chaos, and the undeniable allure of creating something extraordinary indoors (because let’s face it, the Texas sun doesn’t do second chances). I wasn’t always a “plant lady,” but somewhere between navigating life’s curveballs and my first taste of high-quality cannabis, I realized plants had something profound to teach: patience, resilience, and how to feel really, really good.

At first, my relationship with hemp was casual—you know, just dabbling while figuring out my vibe. My first hemp plant? She was a total diva, dramatic and demanding in all the ways only a plant can be. But I was determined to make it work. She didn’t just survive—she thrived. Somewhere between adjusting light schedules and frantically Googling “why does my plant look sad,” I realized I was onto something special.

Fast-forward to today, and Plant Lady ATX isn’t just a hobby—it’s a love letter to anyone craving balance, bold flavors, and a touch of botanical magic. Every nugget of CBD I grow is infused with the same love and care I gave that first moody, high-maintenance plant. My goal? To do more than sell hemp—I want to create something that connects. Whether it’s a calming cup of tea or a drop of our signature organic CBD oil that makes you feel like a master of mellow, everything is grown with purpose.

At its core, Plant Lady ATX is about crafting intentional, feel-good moments. It’s about finding balance in a way that’s organic, authentic, and unapologetically real. Whether you’re winding down after a long day, finding calm in the chaos, or just looking for a reason to smile, everything I grow is designed to deliver—not just a product, but a feeling. 🌱

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth? Ha! Not exactly. Let’s just say the road has been more like one of those winding hill-country trails—you know, scenic but full of bumps, potholes, and the occasional ‘What have I gotten myself into?’ moment. Growing hemp indoors sounds glamorous until you’re up at 2 a.m. adjusting grow lights or trying to rescue a plant that’s giving you serious attitude for no apparent reason.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning to embrace the unpredictability of it all—plants don’t read instruction manuals, and neither do life’s curveballs. From figuring out the perfect light-to-water ratio to navigating the complexities of the hemp industry, it’s been a crash course in patience, adaptability, and a whole lot of trial and error.

But honestly, the struggles have made the wins that much sweeter. Every time I see a healthy plant thriving or hear from someone who loves what I’ve created, it reminds me why I started this journey. It’s been messy, humbling, and occasionally hilarious (like the time a neighbor thought my grow tent was a spaceship), but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is a labor of love—and a little bit of caffeine-fueled chaos. At Plant Lady ATX, I grow premium organic hemp indoors, managing every step of the process from cultivation to packaging. It’s a full-scale operation: tending to plants that demand the perfect balance of light, water, and care, handcrafting products that are as effective as they are beautiful, and ensuring they make it into the hands of people who will love them as much as I do.

What sets me apart is how much of myself I pour into every aspect of this business. My background as an educator taught me how to connect with people and share knowledge, and my time in customer success and content creation gave me a knack for storytelling and design. That translates into products that don’t just work—they tell a story, spark connection, and feel personal.

Between weekend markets, online orders, and stocking local stores around Austin, I wear a lot of hats, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m most proud of how much care goes into every product—whether it’s a beautifully packaged CBD oil tinctures and rollers, or the perfect cup of calming tea, it’s all crafted with the intention to bring a little balance and joy to someone’s day.

What sets Plant Lady ATX apart? It’s the heart behind everything I do. From nurturing my plants to connecting with customers face-to-face at markets, I’m all about creating something authentic, sustainable, and unapologetically real. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that I know how to keep things weird—because, after all, this is Austin.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Austin is the vibe—it’s this perfect mix of creativity, quirkiness, and tacos. You can’t beat a city where people will passionately debate breakfast taco supremacy or where live music is just part of your grocery store experience. Plus, there’s something magical about how everyone here is doing something interesting—whether it’s launching a startup, growing hemp (hi!), or keeping the ‘Keep Austin Weird’ dream alive.

What I like least? Two words: I-35. That highway is a lesson in patience, endurance, and how many podcasts you can listen to in one sitting. Also, I’m pretty sure the traffic has its own ecosystem at this point—it’s thriving, and it’s terrifying
