Hi Mileena, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi! I’m Mileena Flores, a photographer who’s all about capturing the moments that matter most.
For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of freezing time—whether it’s a burst of laughter, a quiet moment, or a perfect sunset with friends and family. While I’ve shot everything from events to landscapes, my heart truly lies in portrait photography. There’s something so special about getting to know someone and then capturing a side of them that feels real and authentic.
I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2018 with a focus in Mass Communications (Go Bearkats!), but my love for storytelling has always been visual. To me, photography is all about creating something meaningful, something you can look back on for years to come. I love working with people to bring their personalities and stories to life through my lens.
When I’m not behind the camera, you can usually find me hanging out with my husband and our daughter, or planning our next adventure to some new, exciting place. Whether it’s a spontaneous weekend getaway or a dream vacation, I’m always on the lookout for new places to explore and new stories to tell.
The best part of what I do is seeing the joy on my client’s faces when they see their photos. It’s a feeling I never get tired of!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Now, I’ll be honest—my journey to becoming a full-time photographer hasn’t been a smooth road. For over five years, I worked full-time in education while also juggling my passion for photography. Balancing both was tough! There were many late nights editing, early mornings shooting, and a lot of moments where I questioned if I was doing enough. But after years of working to make it all fit, I finally decided it was time to bet on myself. So here I am, diving in headfirst, ready to give it my all.
