Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Landa
Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got started as a cosmetology students who knew very little about the industry. During my time there, I received an opportunity to style hair at a local runway show! I took a risk and furnished my own makeup kit so I could provide both hair and makeup services. As soon as I got started, I knew this was something I had to pursue. I was in love with the chaos & glamour of it all.
I spent 6 months working every MUA job I could find. Through my work, I found a love for both sides of the camera. I got my first modeling job after being scouted by a local designer. I felt like a small fish in a big pond! It’s always been important to me to put my best foot forward, so I had to build a new skill set to keep up.
All my work over the past couple years continues to pay off every day. I’m enjoying growing two of my dream careers! I’m always looking to learn new skills and expand my reach as a business owner. In addition to my full time projects, I’m dabbling in work as an actress, casting director, and event coordinator. Building Jas.Cosmo into what it is has been a labor of love, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next. Nothing is off limits!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest sacrifice I’ve made has been my time. Don’t get it twisted, it’s been financially, emotionally, and physically taxing! But with 6am call times, 18 hour days, and going straight from the day job to a gig; this endeavor has taken more of my time than anything.
Good time management doesn’t come naturally to me, but has been necessary to become an entrepreneur. Saying yes to something always means saying no to something else! Finding that balance is difficult.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a makeup artist, my goal is always for my clients to feel like best version of themselves. For my editorial clients, that may mean covering them in carefully placed rhinestones & flower petals. For my beautiful brides, it may be an airbrushed base & a gentle half lash!
The biggest thing that sets me apart is my ability to analyze someone’s features, my knowledge of color theory, and my attention to detail. These skills help me understand how to elevate someone’s look regardless of skin tone, facial structure, or age.
As a model, I have a goal of bringing my client’s goal to a new level. I’m responsible for representing the work of the whole team! It’s the model’s job to embody the lighting, styling, storytelling, and concept. I take it as a challenge to beat the expectations of the vision board!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
This has such a broad answer!! There is so much beauty in the world around me, and how fortunate I am to get to experience it! To sum it up, it makes me happy knowing I am actively living my life to the fullest. I am relishing the entirety of what I am given.
I love the people I surround myself with, I get such satisfaction out of learning something new, I feel fulfillment in growing my talents & passions. My life is full of energy and overflowing with passion. There’s a quote that says “How we spend our days is how we spend our lives.”. It’s true! I’m thankful to have full days.
