Inspiring Conversations with Nancy Dominguez Garcia of Seven-S Contractor Services LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Dominguez Garcia

Hi Nancy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began in 2016 when my mother took a bold step and started an insurance agency from scratch. She brought me on board as a sales agent, and that was my first taste of entrepreneurship. In 2017, I decided to pursue an education in accounting after realizing that running a business involved much more than just sales. For a year, I juggled both accounting and sales, gradually learning the ins and outs of operating a business. As our agency grew, we were able to hire more staff, and I transitioned into the role of office manager.

Not long after, we faced a new challenge: the shift to digital platforms and social media. I dove into learning marketing and eventually became the marketing director at the agency. Fast forward to 2020, I welcomed my son into the world, and in 2023, my husband and I tied the knot.

My connection to construction began years earlier, as my father was a skilled floor and tile contractor. He passed his knowledge to my husband, mentoring him in the craft. In 2024, I came across the Latina Foundation and their small business startup program. Inspired by the opportunity, I applied, hoping to start a business of my own but unsure of the direction. As I attended the classes, it became clear that the ideal business for my family would be one rooted in construction—a field we were already familiar with. My husband was struggling to maintain a steady flow of work, and I realized we could combine our strengths.

With my background in business management and his expertise in flooring and tile, we decided to launch Seven-S Contractor Services together. As a team, we blend my knowledge of running a business with his hands-on craftsmanship, creating the perfect partnership to build a successful family business.

In addition to running my business, I’m deeply committed to giving back to my community. Through my volunteer work with Austin Latinas Unidas, I host monthly meetups for women in Manor and surrounding cities. These gatherings provide a space for like-minded women to connect, support, and uplift one another. Over the years, I’ve learned so much about business, and my greatest joy is sharing that knowledge and helping others succeed. For me, it’s about creating a network of empowerment, where women can grow, thrive, and achieve their dreams together.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting and building Seven-S Contractor Services has been far from a smooth road, but every challenge has taught us invaluable lessons. One of our biggest struggles was getting the business off the ground while balancing our personal lives. My husband and I are raising a young family, and launching a business requires long hours, dedication, and constant problem-solving. Finding that balance between family and work has been one of our greatest challenges.

Another hurdle was establishing credibility and trust in a competitive market. As a new business, gaining clients and proving the quality of our work took time. My husband’s experience in flooring and tile work helped us showcase our craftsmanship, but building a consistent workflow required persistence and networking.

We also faced the financial strain that comes with starting a business. From purchasing tools and materials to marketing our services, there were moments when it felt like we were stretching ourselves thin. However, we learned how to budget effectively and focus on projects that aligned with our vision for growth.

Lastly, navigating the administrative side of the business, such as permits, contracts, and client management, was another learning curve. Thankfully, my background in business management and marketing played a significant role in helping us overcome these obstacles.

While the road hasn’t been smooth, every struggle has strengthened our determination and deepened our commitment to building a business that reflects our family values and provides high-quality services to our clients.

We’ve been impressed with Seven-S Contractor Services LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The construction and remodeling industry is evolving rapidly, and we expect to see significant changes in the next 5-10 years. One of the biggest shifts will likely be the increasing focus on sustainability and eco-friendly materials. Clients are becoming more conscious of their environmental footprint, and the demand for green building practices, energy-efficient products, and sustainable materials will continue to rise.

Technology will also play a crucial role in shaping the industry. From advanced tools that enhance efficiency to virtual design software that allows clients to visualize their projects before they begin, innovation is set to transform how contractors and clients collaborate. Additionally, smart home integration will likely become a standard in remodeling, with more clients seeking features like automated lighting, temperature control, and energy monitoring systems.

Another trend we anticipate is the rise of customized and personalized spaces. Homeowners are moving away from cookie-cutter designs and opting for unique finishes and tailored solutions that reflect their individual style. This will challenge contractors to offer more creativity and flexibility in their services.

Labor shortages may continue to impact the industry, making it essential for businesses to focus on recruiting, training, and retaining skilled workers. At Seven-S Contractor Services, we see this as an opportunity to create jobs and provide training, particularly within the Hispanic community.

Finally, the shift toward digital marketing and online platforms will only grow stronger. Clients are doing more research and making decisions online, so having a strong digital presence and a reputation for quality work will be more important than ever.

Overall, the industry is heading toward a more innovative, client-centered, and sustainable future, and we’re excited to adapt, grow, and continue providing excellent service as these changes unfold.
