Rising Stars: Meet Elaine Acker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elaine Acker

Hi Elaine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thanks to my mom, Katherine, I was reading by the time I was two years old. She stenciled words onto big pieces of cardboard, coloring the letters with red or black magic markers, and we “played school.” To her credit, she tried the same approach with numbers, but it was a serious no go. My smile turned upside down when the numbers replaced the letters and we promptly returned to the words and books that made my eyes light up. Reading books meant fascinating adventures, even when I was laying on a quilt in the shade in the East Texas piney woods.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The roads that lead to entrepreneurial and leadership success are red dirt roads that eventually get a layer of black asphalt. Later, they might get an upgrade to concrete, But potholes are the reality every mile of the journey.

The potholes are where the stories are; along with the effort it takes to build bridge or two. The challenges are the reason I have a publishing company. Because often, those who have led the way are moved to tell their own stories and help others avoid the dead-end roads and ruts.

My biggest challenge has been – and still is – me. I like the excitement of new ideas and I love working the “marketing puzzles.” And I live for the next experiment (“Let’s do it and see what happens!”). Because of that, I’ve worked for the newspaper in print production; I’ve had a side gig as a SCUBA instructor; I’ve owned a photo lab; I’ve served in leadership roles for large nonprofits; and I’ve had my own business for as many years as I’ve worked for others.

Part of me wonders what would have been different if I had been more consistent in my career(s); if I had focused rather than moving to the next shiny object.

But… I would have had fewer problem-solving repetitions to share with my clients and I wouldn’t have the perspectives I gained along the way. I wouldn’t have the insights that allow me to ask thoughtful questions that uncover meaningful stories. Choosing another path might have meant missing the opportunity to publish books that help others’ voices be heard. And I wouldn’t trade my publishing business for any other job in the world.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for turning business leaders into thought leaders.

I start by asking insightful questions that unlock meaningful content for clients’ books, ebooks, blogs, and social media. The key is to capture my clients’ authentic voices and demonstrate, in words, what sets them apart from anyone else.

But my ultimate goal is to help clients turn thought leadership into marketing opportunities. I know from experience that the right words lead to credibility and authority; speaking gigs and high-ticket offers; referrals and revenues.

What matters most to you?
My heart is happy when I’m amplifying the voices of those who make a difference in others’ lives.

“Make a difference” means: Those who have the heart to elevate others; those who care enough to share their experience and create opportunities for others; those who believe in abundance over competition.

Growing up, I believed I could do anything. I was incredibly lucky to have Gerald and Katherine Acker as parents. But the older I got, the more I understood how rare that was. I want to create that experience of confidence, optimism, and accomplishment for my friends, employees, and clients.

My mission: to share the gift of unlimited possibilities through publishing.
