Rising Stars: Meet Michele Garcia of Hutto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Garcia

Hi Michele, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well where do I start… I am a self taught makeup artist from Austin, Texas. I come from a big family ( 11 siblings ) and I am the oldest of them all. Growing up I knew that I wanted to be successful in whichever career path I took so that I can be a role model for them and show them that there are ups and downs in life but the outcome will be beautiful as long as you put your heart and hard work into it. I originally wanted to go into the field of Veterinary Medicine, which still has my heart, however I fell in love with all things beauty in 2017. Once my interest peaked my boyfriend became and still is my biggest supporter. He bought my first vanity, my products, and pushed me to pursue my goal. I would watch YouTube video after YouTube video to make sure I had every step down. Once I felt comfortable enough I started to take on friends and family as clients. I felt like makeup was the open door for me to explore more of the beauty industry so I did. I went on and took courses in Microblading, eyelash extensions, mini tattoos, nails, etc. I love to learn new things, new techniques and I am always inspired by other artists. I worked in the mental health field for 5 years before I fully committed to working on my business. Working in that field helped me have a different outlook on making people feel beautiful. Every client is special to me even if we sit in silence because that is their space and time to reflect and feel good about themselves. I enjoy giving advice and helping upcoming artists as well. Everyone deserves to grow. I have more goals set for myself and I plan to hit every single one.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No it’s never a smooth road. We are always handed unexpected events throughout life. I dealt with a lot of depression and anxiety over the years. When I first started out I felt a bit discouraged at times with how big and popular the beauty industry is but I had to remind myself everyone has different talents / skills and people choose you for you. I knew that I had to push myself to be where I am today. It was tough but I overcame it. I am truly grateful for all of the support that I have gotten over the years from my family and friends.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional self taught makeup artist. I also specialize in eyelash extensions, microblading, mini tattoos, and nails.
I create a welcoming / comfortable environment for every client so we can honestly chat it up the whole time or we can relax I leave it up to them mostly. I make sure I ask them all of the right questions to make their inspiration looks become reality.
I am honestly proud of the love and support I have received and the connections I have made. I never thought that I would have created a name for myself or be in this field but I love it. I am really happy, it honestly feels great to be a part of this industry.
What sets me apart from others is that I am me, I don’t have to pretend to be someone I’m not. I have my own skills/techniques that I create with my own hands and people love it. I am passionate about helping people and making them feel beautiful inside and out.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The outcome of my work matters the most to me. I never want an unhappy client. I know there are times where I might not be the right artist for someone but that doesn’t stop me from trying to be the best that I can be.
I truly do enjoy being able working on my own because it allows me to take my time with each client and give them the experience they deserve. Creating those relationships are important to me.
Another thing that matters most to me is having the ability to expand my knowledge and skills every day. Trends change and being able to learn new things is wonderful.
