Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Walker
Hi Jada, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was working in leasing and pregnant, not feeling fulfilled with my job anymore, so I started looking into the BEAUTY industry. I’ve always wanted to be in the BEAUTY industry anyways. My best friend who is an aesthetician had come across Laura Instagram page, and sent it to me. I got really interested in the stretch mark removal, and so I decided to message Laura about her work and training dates. After speaking with her and learning that she has classes here in Austin, I decided to sign up. A few months later, I was then fired from my job at seven months pregnant. This was also before I’ve had taken any of the training from Laura. I took her training a month before I gave birth. Then, in January around my birthday. I got a message from Laura asking me if I wanted to help her with one of her clients. I of course said yes! While helping her she asked me to be her assistant at the salon, I gratefully accepted! I’ve now been working as her assistant for a little over a year and I love it!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, definitely not! My car breaking down, someone breaking into it a few weeks after that, getting into a car accident have all been things to interfere with my work this past year.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We will always do a consultation first to see if this is something that is for you.
I do paramedic tattooing, also known as skin camouflage. I specialize in stretch mark removal.
I am one of the only paramedic tattoo artist here in Austin, and I also feel that being a woman of color. I have a better understanding of women who have melanin in their skin for these types of techniques that are used.
I’m proud to be a part of the Pretty Ink brand because it is Woman owned and operated. Lala is taking this brand and expanding to different cites/countries! I’m excited to be apart of that!
