Conversations with Michael Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Taylor

Hi Michael, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Michael Taylor, I’m a licensed catastrophic adjuster that moved to Austin in 2017 due to Hurricane Harvey. I’ve traveled for over 12 years handling claims. I’ve worked from catastrophic claims to litigation. When it comes to Austin I’ve been hosting live music showcases for about 10 years curating and collaborating a platform for Indy artist. My journey as Claims Adjuster provided me the opportunity to see the states and Canada after finishing my athletic career in football at Tuskegee & Jacksonville State University. Over the years my career has been a roller coaster in the industry so I decided to become a Chef and focus music and entertainment production such as concerts and live shows. My passion in food and becoming a Chef inspired me to write a book and interact with others in regard’s to their trials and tribulations in overcoming to become the individual they’re today. My recipes are inspired from Creole cuisine recipes and tailgate experiences inspired by my collegiate football career. Specifically Crawfish Boils as homage to my hometown and culture.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road, as an independent adjuster and entrepreneur. The industry has its peaks and slow seasons along with other issues as toxic workplace environments and management. Being a pioneer and minority in my field hasn’t been the most pleasant but my Air Force experience I feel made me mentally tough to overcome trials and tribulations.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As A catastrophic adjuster I’m the individual that assist with insureds restoring their lives after a crisis. I specialize in property and auto with Litigation experience to assist in lawsuits filed by insureds. I’m most proud of my career as 12 years has been a journey. Integrity, Dedication, & Commitment sets me apart from others.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was a quiet child with a speech impediment. I used my athletic ability in sports to take my frustration out as I was a track star, & football player. Growing up I was more of a student athlete than anything I would say a scholar.
