Meet Pattie Farley And Amalia Litras of GrassIron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pattie Farley And Amalia Litras

Hi Pattie Farley and Amalia Litras, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In 2003, we began our careers as personal trainers at Gold’s Gym, driven by a passion for fitness and helping others achieve their goals. After about a year, we transitioned to Hyde Park Gym, where we worked as contract trainers for nearly seven years. During this time, we steadily grew our business and built a team of independent contractors.

Around the five-year mark, we realized that operating within a shared space limited our ability to scale and cultivate the culture we envisioned. So, in the summer of 2011, we took a leap and opened our own facility: GrassIron.

At GrassIron, we pride ourselves on being more than just a gym—we’re a community. With a 4,000 sq ft facility and a dedicated team of eight expert trainers, we specialize in personal training, powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting, and creating an inclusive space for everyone. Whether you’re a couch potato taking your first steps toward fitness or a seasoned competitive athlete striving for the next level, we’re here to support your journey.

Our mission is simple: to empower individuals of all backgrounds to achieve their goals while fostering a strong, supportive community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Over the past 13 years, our journey has been one of growth, learning, and resilience. While much of it has been a relatively smooth path, the year 2020 brought significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The financial and emotional toll was immense, but thanks to a strong financial foundation and the unwavering support of our community, we successfully navigated these turbulent times. We are proud to have kept our team fully employed and maintained continuity, ensuring GrassIron remained a reliable space for our members during an uncertain period.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We’re a female-owned gym dedicated to fostering both physical strength and a supportive community. Specializing in strength training, we primarily utilize traditional equipment, such as barbells and dumbbells, to help our members achieve their fitness goals.

One thing that truly sets us apart is our collaborative approach to personal training. Our trainers work as a team, sharing clients and supporting one another to ensure the best possible outcomes. Every member of our team embraces a collective mindset, prioritizing the success of the group over individual achievement. As a result, most of our trainers have been with us for several years, contributing to our strong sense of community and consistency.

For the past 13 years, we’ve had the privilege of helping countless individuals achieve remarkable feats, including climbing Machu Picchu, deadlifting 500 pounds, running marathons, losing 80 pounds, performing a bodyweight snatch, completing the Tough Mudder, and achieving a 300-pound bench press. We’ve also supported members in reaching impressive milestones like running the Cap10K, reducing body fat to 12%, completing a 25-mile bike ride, climbing to 18,000 feet, performing a 35-kg clean, mastering a perfect push-up, and much more.

With over 190 success stories to date, our gym is proud to be a place where goals are not just set, but achieved!
