Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristina Ojeda
Hi Cristina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey as an esthetician and lash artist began in 2018 when I attended the Aveda Institute and became a licensed esthetician. I started my career at a chain wax salon, but after a few months, I transitioned to a local lash salon—where I discovered my love for lash extensions. After a year of gaining experience, I moved on to work at various med spas, expanding my expertise beyond lashes and earning certifications such as: Dermaplaning, Microneedling, IPL and became a licensed Laser Hair Removal Technician.
While I loved learning and growing in the esthetics field, I knew deep down that my true passion was in lashes. I later joined a well-known lash salon in Austin, where I was able to focus solely on my lash artistry. During my time there, I became certified in Mega Volume Lashes and sharpened my skills. After two years of working there, I decided it was time to take the next step and go into business for myself.
In January 2023, I took a leap of faith and opened Wallflower Esthetics, building my brand as a solo lash artist. Over the last two years, I’ve found my niche—specializing in mega volume and color creative lash extensions. My dedication to growth led me to further my education and become double-certified in mega volume lashes, pushing my artistry to new levels.
What started as a step into the lash industry has turned into a journey of passion, artistry, and growth. Every experience has shaped me into the lash artist I am today, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, being a self employed lash artist, I’ve had to overcome many difficult challenges along the way. From navigating the highs and lows of running a business while staying true to my craft, facing unexpected setbacks, and finding the balance between work and my personal life. Each challenge has taught me valuable lessons, making me more resilient, fueling my drive to keep pushing forward, and allowing me to continue growing my business. Overcoming these challenges have helped to shape me into both a stronger a lash artist and entrepreneur.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As lash artist, I specialize in mega volume and creative, colorful lash extensions. My passion is bringing bold, vibrant lash sets to life. I love pushing the boundaries of lash artistry to create customized looks that enhance each client’s individuality. What sets me apart as a lash artist is my fearless approach to color and creativity. I’m not afraid to take risks when creating unique, vibrant lash looks that turn heads. Whether it’s daring color blends, unique designs, or unexpected combinations, I love pushing the limits of lash artistry to create something truly one of a kind.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
As a lash artist, skill, creativity, and precision are everything; a bit of good luck also plays a role. Sometimes it’s meeting the ideal client, a creative idea flowing effortlessly for an intricate lash set, or receiving incredible opportunities that have had such a positive impact on my career—luck can play a beautiful role. Though, it’s my dedication and passion for the craft that turn those lucky moments into something truly magical.
