Meet Jena Kessel of Augusta Vin Winery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jena Kessel

Hi Jena, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I originally studied to become an elementary school teacher while doing children and family photography on the side. However, I ultimately chose to pursue a career in marketing and photography instead. I worked as a photographer in merchandising with James Avery, but when COVID hit, I had to pivot. That’s when I found Augusta Vin—the most beautiful winery I had ever seen in the Texas Hill Country. Nearly four years later, I’m proud to be the Marketing Director, combining my passion for photography, storytelling, and the world of wine.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. After five years with my previous company, COVID changed everything, and I had to start over. Joining Augusta Vin was an exciting opportunity, but stepping into a new industry came with its own challenges.

Balancing a demanding job with family life has been one of the hardest parts. Marketing never really turns off—it’s early mornings, late nights, and always planning ahead. Some days feel overwhelming, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. The challenges have pushed me to grow in ways I never expected, and despite the struggles, I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
content creation, strategy, product development, and beyond. It’s a big job, but when you believe in what you’re promoting, it never really feels like work. Augusta Vin isn’t just a winery—it’s a destination.

Set on 100 acres in the Texas Hill Country, we have 60 acres of vineyards producing estate-grown wines, with every bottle made right here in Texas. Our brand is bold, our wines are big, and we’re always pushing to be the best. That dedication recently earned us two Gold Medals at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, proving that Texas wine belongs on the national stage.

But what really sets Augusta Vin apart isn’t just the wine—it’s the full experience. Between the breathtaking views, the welcoming atmosphere, and a team that’s genuinely passionate about what we do, it’s a place people don’t just visit; they come back to, again and again.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy? My family, first and foremost. They’re my foundation and my why. I also find joy in beautiful things—whether it’s a breathtaking view, a well-crafted design, or a perfectly plated dish. But more than anything, I love making people smile, whether it’s through a shared moment, a great experience, or simply good storytelling. That’s why I’m passionate about what I do—connecting with people and promoting companies I truly believe in. There’s something so fulfilling about helping a brand grow and seeing others fall in love with it the way I have.
