Hi BO$$ Cohen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in business by Buying & Selling Baseball Cards on Long Island, New York where I grew up. I was around 10 years old when I started! During my college years I started my Hospitality career as a Bartender, turned promoter, marketing director, General Manager, Clothing Line Owner, Sports Handicapper, Club Owner, Hospitality Company Owner & Entrepreneur. It all happened really fast and has endured extreme highs and lows over the years.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Did you ask if the Nightlife business has been a smooth road? Quite the opposite actually. In order to succeed in the Nightlife industry, you need to be so tough and sharp, or you will get eaten alive in this business. You have every obstacle you can imagine: Mother Nature (Snow, Hurricanes, Fires, Tropical Storms, Flooding), Pandemics, Terrorist attacks, Violence, Competition, Slander, Gangs, Complaining Neighbors, Politicians, not to mention the business aspect of it that comes along with about a hundred other potential issues. I have seen so many people cry, quit, and not be able to handle this very tough industry.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The pandemic brought me to Texas in 2020. First, I was in Dallas as the Director Nightlife for Spearmint Rhino’s incredible 2nd Dallas location. Then I did some consulting for two Nightclubs in Austin. After that I opened a Speakeasy in Galveston, Texas named Mob Bar. Just months before I was forced to close my Los Angeles Mob Bar due to Governor Gavin Newsom’s strict & very long closures in California.
The venue thrived on the weekends when I brought Hollywood to Galveston with Burlesque Shows. We had weekly shows with some incredibly beautiful and talented burlesque entertainers & producers. Since Galveston does not have a burlesque scene the majority of the entertainers came from Houston. Since I wanted to keep the audience engaged, I brought in entertainers from Hollywood, Vegas, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio & beyond! We had top notch entertainers every weekend!
Here is what is coming to Texas from my company in 2025:
I am in escrow to purchase the Real Estate and open up a 10,000 Square Foot 2 Level Mega Speakeasy in Galveston named Gatsby’s Showgirls which will feature a speakeasy Mob Bar upstairs. The venue will be open 7 nights per week and will feature Flapper Fridays which will focus on a Gatsby style 1920’s Burlesque Show. On Saturday’s we will feature Circus Saturdays which will have entertainers from Hollywood, New York, Vegas & beyond along with local Houston entertainers perform Burlesque, Aerial & Fire! The venue will also feature a Burlesque Wall of Fame, Criminal Lineup, Murals, LED’s & a huge stage!
In addition to the new venue opening, Hollywood Burlesque Show is opening up subdivisions all over Texas. We plan to put burlesque shows on at Nightclubs all over Texas in cities such as Houston, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio & beyond.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Since this is an Austin publication, I am only going to speak about my Texas projects and the people who helped me succeed in Texas.
