Check Out Jupiter Jones’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jupiter Jones

Hi Jupiter, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started in hospitality over 20 years ago as a chocolatier. From there I moved into back of house working as a prep cook, then sous-chef, sous dessert chef, and more. Eventually I merged into from of house as a server and manger but eventually landed as a bar back and then became a bartender.

About 10 years ago I got into the tiki scene and progressed from there towards events. Running bar lead at musical festivals, etc. I started my own experiential event production company and worked with some of the top brands in the country.

Finally last year I went pro-photographer and have been working with brands and bars across the country.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s a lot like pushing a snowball up a hill. At first it feels unmanageable and unattainable as it gets heavier. You’re making progress but you’re never really able to get ahold of the game. venally though I was able to get on top of the ball and I’ve been driving towards my future ever sense.

That doesn’t mean I don’t still face hurdles. From client scams to lost opportunities and health problems there’s always something to tackle. Being an Autistic entrepreneur can be really intense sometimes so making taking for myself and my health always takes precedence.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Ever wondered how to capture the magic of a perfectly crafted cocktail or the electric energy of a bustling bar? Meet Jupiter Jones, the autistic artist and advocate who’s been a part of the hospitality industry for over 20 years. Her vibrant photography and videography tell the stories behind the spirits, the spaces, and the people who make this industry so captivating.

But Jupiter’s not just about pretty pictures. She’s a passionate voice for neurodiversity advocacy (as written about in LA Weekly), and her company, Lionysus Creative, is all about celebrating life’s pleasures and breaking free from fear and judgment – just like the Greek God Dionysus himself.

With a background in event production and hospitality consulting, Jupiter’s a true industry insider. She’s a familiar face at Tales of the Cocktail, where she’s volunteered, photographed, presented, and spoken. She’s worked with everyone from Johnnie Walker and Bacardi to iconic bars like Dead Rabbit, The Roosevelt Room, and even the historic tiki bar The Mai Kai.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I think the biggest asset you can have when owning your own business is the ability to adapt. You need to know how to gamble but also understand it’s a numbers game, so you are always set to lose at some point. I’ve had gigs that have paid off exponentially but I’ve also had projects that fell flat and I lost A LOT of money on.

Understanding which gambles and risks to take is all part of the game.
