Conversations with Mia Moth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mia Moth

Hi Mia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
For me, I’d say, conception. From the very beginning I’ve always wanted to create unique things that express aspects that are un-shared, over shared, or un-addressed. Arts have always had my full attention. No matter the medium or craft, if i touch it, I can’t help but make it my own.

Geographically, I started in the Midwest (North Dakota/Minnesota Region) and moved to Austin, TX in November 2023.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? NEVER. To put it creatively, I’d say my life is very detailed. Growing up in a small town it felt very nails out “I DID IT FIRST.” for a majority of my time there.

I’ve had many deep personal challenges, social challenges (like most artists I feel more a part from vs. a part of in most settings), and the very needed creative challenges. Some areas more extreme than others but nonetheless each have help shaped me into who I am today and I wouldn’t want my life any different.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an artist at heart. I see art in EVERYTHING. I specialize in modeling, drawing, & creative photography. I want to create and share the beautiful dark alternative side of this world.

I feel like I’m known for my surreal dark yet balanced work that meshes into dark art, dark feminine, vintage, high fashion, gothic, emo, vampire, witch, halloween & alternative aesthetics. If it’s alternative and creative…I’M ALL OVER IT.

Currently, I’m starting to expand and explore the world of performance arts & entertaining. I recenlty joined an alternative performers group that is based out of Houston, TX called Coffin Angels.

I’m always exposing myself to new creative environments as any opportunities arise. I feel everything I do that peaks my interest always comes together and blends into whatever I’m doing or creating.

What sets me apart is I’ll never stop. This is me. Art is my therapy. I’ll always be doing something extreme and/or creative. I don’t want to give you the common art. I want you to question it and maybe FEEL something.. different?

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Do it now. Do it broke. Do it alone. Don’t question your creative intentions based of others projections of how they’ve decided to view you. Art is a expressive medium that not everyone understands, which is why I see art in everyone and everything. Not everything needs to make sense, just get out those visions, aspirations and emotions however you see fit. Practice, Refine. Educate/Explore. REPEAT.

You are you best support outside of your viewing community. If you don’t believe in yourself… you’ll never see why anyone else could.

Oh also, it’s okay to do something and not like it. You have now learned something and how to do it differently the next try. The key is to not give up and stay consistent. Whatever that looks like for you.
