My journey to founding Ignite Tax Solutions began long before I realized it. Early in my career, I worked alongside CEOs at various startups, immersing myself in the fast-paced world of entrepreneurship. These experiences put me in a unique position to gain firsthand knowledge about the finances and taxes involved in running a business. It was a steep learning curve, but it opened my eyes to a side of business that I had never been exposed to before.
What shocked me the most was how much I didn’t know. Taxes and financial literacy were never part of the curriculum in school, and like many others, I grew up viewing taxes as just another bill—an obligation to be met without much thought. But as I delved deeper into the financial operations of these startups, I began to see taxes in a completely different light. Taxes weren’t just a burden; they were a powerful tool that, when understood and used strategically, could unlock significant financial gain.
This realization ignited a passion within me. I became determined not only to master this knowledge for myself but also to share it with others. I saw how the lack of tax literacy held people back, especially those in my community. It fueled my mission to educate and empower others, transforming the way they viewed taxes and their potential to build wealth.
With this passion driving me, I decided to take a leap of faith and create Ignite Tax Solutions. My goal was simple yet ambitious: to provide tax services that go beyond the basics, offering personalized strategies that help clients achieve financial freedom. Owning my own business has been both challenging and rewarding. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Navigating the tax world hasn’t been easy with all the constant changes in tax laws and a political landscape that keeps shifting. On top of that, It’s wild how many times I get reels or TikToks from people saying, “This person said I can write my dog off!” Social media makes it seem like anyone can claim anything as a deduction, but that’s not how taxes work. While there are some creative tax strategies, they have to be legit and within the law.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Networking works best when you’re yourself. For a while, I struggled because I was trying to be who I thought I “should” be, and it left me all over the place, not attracting the right clients or connections.
Once I embraced my true personality, everything shifted. I started naturally connecting with people who aligned with me, and those genuine relationships built a stronger network.
My advice: Be real, show up as yourself, and focus on meaningful conversations. The right people will gravitate toward you.
