Exploring Life & Business with Emily Swope of AuraVita Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Swope

Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey as a nutrition practitioner has been such a rollercoaster, both emotionally and literally. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition & Foods at Texas State University in San Marcos. During my time at Texas State, all of my professors and classmates talked about what life would look like when we all inevitably became registered dietitians working in a big hospital. For a while, I just assumed that was my only career option because that’s all that was ever discussed. The work I was to be doing as a registered dietitian was with a population that was already sick with chronic illness and seeking assistance in a hospital setting. But I never truly felt like that was my calling. I wanted to help people avoid chronic illness and make diet and lifestyle changes that could improve their quality of life overall. So, after graduation, I honestly felt lost. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, and it was then that I stumbled across the world of Certified Nutrition Specialists. So I took a leap of faith and decided to enroll in Saybrook University to pursue my Master’s degree in Integrative and Functional Nutrition. After another two years, I graduated in December of 2024 and now I am pursuing my Certified Nutrition Specialist credential.

This brings us to today, where I am the owner of AuraVita Wellness, and I see all types of clients to help them address their diet and lifestyle goals. I am so thankful to be a small business owner and I learn something new every day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My road has not always been sunshine and rainbows. I finished my undergraduate journey and spent 6 months doing odd jobs until I finally decided I wanted to begin my Master’s program. I worked full-time at a child development training center for two years while I paid for and worked my way through graduate school. And even after graduation, my journey didn’t end because I started an internship to earn supervised hours toward my credential. There were certainly times when I wanted to give up because I just couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I felt as though all of my peers were leaps and bounds ahead of me. But I had to trust in the world’s timing for me and understand that everyone’s journey is different.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
AuraVita Wellness is a nutrition consulting company that specializes in an integrative and functional approach to health. This means that I take a whole-body approach and look at many different aspects of health to determine the root causes of issues that clients are facing. While other nutrition practitioners may only focus on diet and exercise, I dive deeper and look at things such as how someone grew up, their relationship to food, their bloodwork, environmental factors, and many more. The thing I am most proud of with my brand is that I built it completely from the ground up. I created my name, brand, website, social media, and client portal. If someone is interested in learning more about my services, they can visit my website to take a look at pricing and fill out the contact section to get in touch with me.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
If someone is interested in working with me as a client, they can fill out the contact section on my website or send me a direct message via Instagram. The contact section is a direct link to my business email and is the first point of contact for most people. I am not currently working with any other practitioners, although I believe networking is extremely important and would love to establish connections with anyone in a similar field. People can support me by following me on Instagram @auravita_wellness, visiting my website www.auravitawellness.com, and sharing both with anyone they think would benefit from nutrition advice.
