Hidden Gems: Meet Jamie Batiste of Rejected Hearts Club

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Batiste

Hi Jamie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey started with heartbreak—both personal and profound. After experiencing a breakup and the unexpected loss of my brother, I was faced with the true meaning of heartbreak. I turned to creativity as a way to heal, which led to the creation of Rejected Hearts Club. What began as an outlet evolved into a brand focused on helping others transform pain into power. Our handcrafted jewelry, featuring meaningful designs like magnetic clasps and healing stones, represents connection, self-love, and resilience.

Over the years, I’ve grown Rejected Hearts Club from a simple idea into a brand that’s been showcased at New York Fashion Week and featured in top publications. Today, I’m proud to offer unique, heartfelt pieces that not only inspire but also give back, with a portion of proceeds supporting the Myositis Foundation. This journey hasn’t been without challenges, but staying true to my mission has helped me create something that’s as fulfilling as it is impactful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth, but every challenge has shaped me and Rejected Hearts Club into what we are today. One of the most significant struggles was navigating the emotional weight of heartbreak and grief after the loss of my brother. Building a business while healing required me to constantly dig deep, stay resilient, and channel those emotions into creativity and purpose.

From a business perspective, I’ve faced the same hurdles many entrepreneurs do—finding funding, building a loyal customer base, and learning how to scale sustainably. One of the more personal challenges has been battling imposter syndrome. There are moments when doubt creeps in, and I question if I’m doing enough or if I’m good enough. But I’ve learned to pause, reflect on how far I’ve come, and remind myself why I started.

What keeps me going is the belief that Rejected Hearts Club isn’t just about jewelry; it’s about connection, healing, and empowerment. Each obstacle has taught me to adapt and push forward with even greater determination. Those lessons have made the victories—big and small—even more rewarding.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Rejected Hearts Club is more than a jewelry brand—it’s a movement inspired by resilience, connection, and the power of self-love. Every piece we create tells a story, with themes rooted in healing, empowerment, and individuality. Our designs feature thoughtful elements like magnetic clasps that symbolize connection, and healing stones like Hematite, which align with our mission to help people recover and thrive after heartbreak.

What sets us apart is our focus on meaning and purpose. From our Story of Three Hearts—representing the heart given away, the heart that was rejected, and the heart we give back to you—to our sustainable, reusable packaging, every detail reflects intentionality. Rejected Hearts Club isn’t just about wearing jewelry; it’s about feeling empowered and embracing your journey.

One of the things I’m most proud of is how our brand gives back. A portion of proceeds supports the Myositis Foundation, and we aim to make a tangible difference in the world while uplifting our customers.

If there’s one thing I’d love your readers to know, it’s that Rejected Hearts Club is a space where everyone is welcome. Whether it’s through our handcrafted jewelry or our message of resilience, we’re here to inspire and celebrate the strength it takes to grow through challenges and shine brighter than ever.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
For anyone just starting out, my biggest piece of advice is to never give up, even when the road feels tough. Building something meaningful takes time, patience, and persistence, so don’t let slow days or setbacks discourage you—they’re all part of the journey.

One important lesson I’ve learned is that your friends and family aren’t meant to be your customers, and that’s okay. When I started out, I expected the people closest to me to be my biggest supporters, but most of my encouragement came from strangers who connected with my story and my brand. Don’t let a lack of support from people around you bring you down; instead, focus on finding and connecting with your true audience.

I also wish I had known earlier that it’s okay to fail. Mistakes are incredible teachers, and each one brings you closer to where you’re meant to be. Stay authentic to your vision, build around what you’re passionate about, and let your uniqueness shine.

Finally, remember to invest in yourself and your growth. Whether it’s learning new skills, networking, or finding a mentor, every step you take to improve yourself will reflect in your business. Believe in your vision, and know that success doesn’t happen overnight—but with consistency and heart, it’s absolutely within reach.
