Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashly Gonzalez.
Hi Ashly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m originally from McAllen and moved over here for more opportunity. Moving over here was not only a culture change for me, but a mental rewiring for everything I had to unlearn. For the new things I’ve gotten to learn and experience, the rave community has always been a big pillar in my life. One of the main reasons I created Moon Bounce Hollow was for my friends to have a platform we made together. We want to share the vibes of the community and the commonalities we have with one another. while also showing any new experiments with new friends.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been many struggles along the way. I’m currently in my first year of therapy, and it’s helped so much for my mental health. Understanding the things that were done to me and the things that were thrust upon my lap do not correlate with who I am; these things just happen. I have no control over what I don’t, and that’s okay.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have many different forms of mixed media that I enjoy, including painting, photography, videography, singing, production, and recently added new ventures. I think my multi-format of visual media has extended over the years into my style of just expression, not wondering if my art is going to be liked, just that I’m creating. I’m most proud of Moon Bounce Hollow because it was something I needed to be pushed to actually start doing it (we are our worst critics when we strive for perfection) and I’m glad my friends pushed me to do so while also lending their hands and minds.
