Today we’d like to introduce you to Dani Lawrence.
Dani, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve had many influences in my life, but it started with my dad, who was an inspirational writer. He was a constant encourager, he taught me to believe in myself and to see beyond obstacles and he always stressed the importance of being, grounded in faith. Today, I’m a mother, wife, grandmother, HR professional and recently regarded as an award-winning children’s book author. I got here by faith. in God. It’s not about perfection, but about how to stay focused even after setbacks, rejections or negativity. My grandkids have been my inspiration to write and share with others. They are hilarious and although things don’t go as planned– there are ALWAYS learnings tucked into the “adventure”. To me, true happiness is lasting joy, learning from all of my experiences and then being able to share those lessons with others.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting your own business while working a demanding fulltime job is not easy. Along the way I have second guessed my self –time after time. This doubt caused me to become unmotivated but my passion through my grandkids would not allow me to give up.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have recently been awarded the title of “award-winning” children’s book author. My books are written to increase literacy, build learning and leave a legacy for others. My books are different because my stories are rhythmic with colorful pictures, my lil’ readers find my books entertaining and parents enjoy them because they are built on real-life situations.
I’m most proud of knowing that I DID IT!!! I’m proud of knowing that kids and adults can learn from my stories.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like Austin for it’s diverse culture and sunsets!!! You can hike through the natural beauty of the hill country
and end the day admiring a good ole’ Austin sunset. New ideas are accepted and creativity is appreciated. Its a great place for people like me that thrive in innovation.
