Life & Work with Hatice Lance of Harker Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hatice Lance.

Hatice, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my photography journey as a teenager. Coming from a blue collar fam. and no allowance made me realize I had to find a way to make money, so I started helping my nana clean offices after school. My first money of 50 german Marks I entirely spent on my first camera, flashcubes and a roll of film. It was the start of my journey as a photographer I realized years after. After graduating school there were no apprenticeship available in my little town so I decided to become a Decorator and worked in that field for over 10 years and even was Lead decorator.
1999 I met my husband, he was stationed there and we found out we both had the passion for photography. It was a instant click between us. While I was shooting on weekends due to my full time job I wanted to shoot more often and more creatively. I started to buy books about photography and studied as much as I could while shooting.
After getting married and starting our little family I knew being a shm wasn’t enough for me so focused on building my photogr. clients and I was quite busy while we were in Germany. Im 2008 my husband had orders for Texas and we moved with our two kids and household to Harker Heights /TX. Coming here was one of the hardest things I had to overcome. I had to not only adjust that everything was different here but also I had to find a way to get back up and start from new.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was anything but smooth. I knew I had to focus on myself to feel somewhat home since I had left my family, friends and all my clientele. I believe that you can’t serve and give when you not yourself.
So, my first challenge was to get to a state of “I can do this!’
Imagine you have to redo your driving test after 16 years of deriving? Your education is questioned, basically everything I had worked hard for was poof gone with this move.
Once I had taken care of being somewhat back ( got my dl, got my GED in less than 3 month even so my teacher told me my education was way more) I started to pick up my camera again.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In 2017 I decided to take my photographer journey to a next level. Signing up with a mentor was the best decision ever. I reconstructed my whole business model and never looked back. My work was constantly sent in to get judged by international judges and won multiple merits. Today I am a Master Photographer and still striving to learn and grow artistically. I specialize in portraiture and Personal Branding for business owners like myself.

My creative work is what I am most known for. I love to create unique looks, that is what sets me apart from others.
What I am most proud of is being able to give my clients a safe space to be themselves or come out of their shell and have fun. Most of my clients are women that just want to have fun dressing up and just be. It gives me so much joy to hear them laugh during their session and have this nice experience to cherish.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
