Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Turbyfill.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up around construction thanks to my Dad. I started my journey in construction at 18 years old doing high rise demo in Hollywood, California. After years of working in different trades and management roles I began working strictly in flooring for Spectra Contract Flooring. We did many large scale high rise luxury apartments/condos. Then out of nowhere I met the love of my life through Instagram. We enjoyed our first date at Disneyland and fell deeply in love. She was born and raised in Austin, Texas so we did the long distance thing for a year, travelling back and forth every other weekend to spend time together. After a year I quit my Job in LA and took a management position for a small flooring contractor in Austin. My Wife and I got married Christmas eve 2019 and immediately from returning back from our honeymoon started to feel the effects of covid on our jobs. I was fired and rehired with a significant pay decrease. My work load increased as well. One lunch with my employer I was offered a promotion. The very next day he called me first thing in the morning and said he no longer needed me. After this I knew I had to just start on my own so I designed my logo and got my business license. I took any and every job we could get our hands on to pay the bills and keep things moving. Mostly though I began to build my company in the direction that I felt would deliver superior results. There has been many ups and downs along the way but I see every loss as an opportunity to grow and learn from it.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Business is a dog eat dog world. Build relationships. The more hands you shake the more you make. If you chase the dollar it will run. Focus internally on yourself and how you can improve you for others. This will attract the people who will serve you better, and you will serve them better.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a professional flooring company that specializes in luxury hardwood and tile. We love the details. We love to communicate with our customers and point them in the best possible direction. We love to serve our clients with a high standard of integrity and honesty. We try our best across the board from start to finish. I’m most proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in such a short time. I look forward to building bigger and better relationships with more like minded builders and clients. We offer turnkey flooring solutions and love to take full responsibility on waterproofing shower pans to ensure our clients are best taken care of.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk is necessary. Most peoples ego’s will protect them from risk. If you can dial in your mind and remove the ego, risk is an opportunity. You either win or lose and if you lose you grow massively depending on the size of the risk you take.
