Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenny Lipton.
Hi Kenny, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story begins in the physical therapy field where I spent two years working with a variety of populations ranging from athletes to gen-pop to burn patients to the geriatric population.
It was during my time with the geriatric population that sparked a desire to do more for those that I worked with.
I watched people come in and out of our office weak and tired from a life lacking consistent exercise and proper nutrition.
Then one day, a gentleman that we’ll call Mr. Roberts (not his real name) came strolling in (literally with a walker) to our office’s dumbbell rack.
I want to preface with what happens next with this – our dumbbell rack had never been used because every patient was too weak to do so.
Mr. Roberts, though, casually parked his walker, picked up two dumbbells, and proceeded to hammer curl both of them.
In fact, he was flat-out man-handling him.
Hardly believing what was happening – I made my way over to him and asked what made him so much stronger and healthier than everyone else that came into our office.
He flat out said: “I dabbled in bodybuilding and powerlifting.”
That was the moment when my life and career changed.
I decided that if I truly wanted to make a difference in people’s lives, then I needed to support them from a PREVENTATIVE side as opposed to a rehabilitative side.
That’s when my coaching journey began.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is hardly ever smooth.
In fact, the very nature of it is chaotic, yet rhythmic.
Chaotic because you’re on your own. Rhythmic because you learn to adjust, adapt, and thrive.
Other times, it can feel like pure survival – which is why whatever you decide to pursue as a business owner – it needs truly mean something to you.
My passion legitimately is helping people and the beautiful complexities that make up the human body.
I can talk about it for hours on end without gassing out.
But, passion alone isn’t going to bring you success.
It takes time to see your vision come together and it can often be messy.
The biggest mistake I made was letting others (particularly business coaches) interfere with my vision often painting a too-good-to-be-true dream directly targeting my insecurities and deepest desires.
I fell for it (multiple times) and got led the wrong way leaving me in dire situations even though my business was thriving.
Sometimes it really is just about showing up consistently, trusting yourself, and being incredibly specific about who you want to help and why.
If you can find that and show up everyday, while also making sure you’ve got time to recharge, then you’ll eventually find your success because as a business owner – your health matters too.
I would be a hypocrite if I didn’t follow what I preach.
Fortunately, I am now working with a business mentor that truly aligns with me as a person and business. His name is Caleb Fong and hands down would recommend him above everyone else, especially in the fitness industry.
We’ve been impressed with Full Effort Coaching, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Full Effort Coaching with my wife Sarah and together we’ve been coaching for 9 years.
We specifically help both men and women who are avid gym goers and are between the ages 25-65 build muscle and lose fat with a health-first approach.
We believe that the healthier you are – the more responsive your body will be.
Fitness is not meant to take over your life, but rather it’s meant to compliment it.
Through our FitLife Project 1:1 Coaching Program we teach our clients how to create that harmonious balance between science, results, and fulfillment.
What sets us apart from others is our 3R Method that that directly looks at the human body as a whole – from mental, emotional, and physical standpoints to give us a full picture of who we are helping.
There are too many stories of people trusting and investing in coaches that give them a cookie-cutter plan only to leave them in a worse position than they initially came in.
Our 3R Method makes it so that there are no cookie-cutter approaches anywhere in our program as everyone is different and should be treated that way.
If there’s one thing I am proud of regarding our business it is our retention rate.
We have multiple clients that have been with us since the beginning of our business because of our unique approach.
Whether you’re simply trying to overcome frustrating plateaus that don’t seem to budge no matter what you do, get ready for a wedding, or you’re dealing with something more serious like painful periods, peri-menopause, post-menopause, Amenorrhea, PCOS, Endometriosis, Hypothyroidism, Hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto’s, Gut Dysbiosis, SIBO, H-Pylori . . .
We are fully equipped to support you and guide you towards success.
Simply put – we are the last coaches you’ll ever need.
Unless you really just love working with us like most of our clients do – then, we will be there to support you.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk is essential towards progressing in life.
Without risk – there is no forward momentum.
Risk is inherent in everything that we do – from deciding which movie on Netflix you’ll commit to all the way to investing in yourself.
When it comes to investing in your health – the risk is often far less than not investing. I witnessed first-hand what can happen when you don’t do that during my time in the physical therapy world and it’s a very scary, sad place to be.
You are absolutely worth the risk of bettering your health – even if it means stepping into uncomfortable territory.
If you’re trying to achieve something you’ve never been able to do so on your own, then understand it’s inherently going to be uncomfortable because change is uncomfortable.
But, if you trust the process and are guided by those that truly care about you and have your best interest, then the journey will be immensely rewarding.
