Today we’d like to introduce you to Oshawa Hunt.
Hi Oshawa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After overcoming teen pregnancy, surviving domestic violence, and experiencing homelessness, I made a choice—I wasn’t going to let my past define me. I spent over two decades building a successful career as a Sales and Marketing Recruiter, but deep down, I knew I was called to do more than climb the corporate ladder. So, I retired from the grind and followed my true passion: helping others and creating content that matters.
My journey took me from the boardroom to the community as a Domestic Violence Advocate, using my voice and lived experience to support and empower women through some of the darkest seasons of their lives. At the same time, my entrepreneurial spirit kept pushing me forward—I launched beauty supply vending machines filled with hair and self-care essentials, and even dabbled in snack vending, all because I love creating simple solutions that make people feel seen and cared for.
The biggest shift came when I realized that content creation was where I felt most alive. What started as casually sharing Amazon finds, unboxing goodies, and recording beauty tutorials turned into a full-blown career. Today, I’m a full-time UGC (User-Generated Content) creator and content strategist, and I’ve had the honor of collaborating with brands like Viviscal, KatchMe, SHEIN, ChicMe, Carnival Cruise Line, ResortPass, JoinFridays, and Mochi Health.
In addition to beauty, health, and lifestyle brands, I also create content for spas and wellness businesses to encourage women—especially those over 40—to prioritize rest, healing, and self-care. For me, it’s about more than showcasing services—it’s about reminding women that they deserve to be poured into, too.
Content creation allows me to blend storytelling, creativity, and marketing—all while showing up as my authentic self. I create with purpose: to connect, to uplift, and to inspire women to chase what sets their soul on fire, no matter what they’ve been through.
My path hasn’t been traditional, but it’s a testimony that healing, reinvention, and success are always possible when you lead with faith and take bold steps toward your purpose.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been moments of self-doubt, inconsistent income, and a steep learning curve around contracts, editing, and pitching myself. I’ve questioned if I was too old to be doing this, or if anyone would take me seriously. And truthfully, content creation can feel lonely at times when you’re trying to carve your own lane. But I kept showing up, kept learning, and kept pushing forward—even when I wasn’t sure anyone was watching.
What’s kept me going is the joy I feel when I’m creating, and the messages from women who tell me I’ve inspired them to start again, no matter their age or circumstance. I’m living proof that it’s never too late to pivot, follow your passion, and thrive doing what you love.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a UGC (User-Generated Content) creator and digital marketer, I specialize in creating relatable, high-converting photo and video content for lifestyle, beauty, fashion, wellness, and travel brands. I help brands connect with their audiences in an authentic and engaging way—whether it’s through unboxings, try-ons, tutorials, voiceovers, or short-form storytelling. My background in sales and marketing gives me a unique edge: I don’t just create pretty content—I create content that sells.
I’m most proud of building this business from the ground up with zero handouts or fancy equipment. I’ve partnered with well-known brands like Viviscal, KatchMe, SHEIN, ChicMe, Carnival Cruise Line, ResortPass, Join Fridays and Mochi Health, and I’ve done it all while staying true to myself as a 40+ Black woman, grandmother, and content creator.
What sets me apart is my story and my ability to connect with an underserved audience—women over 40 who are rediscovering themselves. I’m not trying to be perfect or fit into a box. I’m real, I’m relatable, and I create with purpose. I also bring faith, joy, and a fresh perspective to everything I produce, showing that you can be stylish, spiritual, and successful—all at the same time.
At the end of the day, I’m not just creating content—I’m building a legacy, inspiring women to bet on themselves, and reminding them it’s never too late to start over.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without God and the love and support of my husband (Kerry) and best friend—he’s truly been my biggest fan. From the very beginning, he believed in me, even when I was just figuring things out. He’s stayed up late filming take after take, held the camera for countless shoots, and even stepped in as my photographer when I needed content on the go.
But his support goes way beyond that. He’s also been there behind the scenes, cheering me on when brand deals fell through, celebrating every win, and encouraging me to keep going when imposter syndrome crept in. He’s never hesitated to support me financially when I wanted to invest in better tools, take a course, or purchase something that would grow my business.
Having someone in your corner who believes in your vision just as much as you do is a blessing I don’t take for granted. This journey has had its highs and lows, but having him by my side has made all the difference.
