Hi Donna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
After getting married in October 2023 and moving to Austin, I began searching for a meaningful way to make a living—something fulfilling that aligned with my life’s purpose, my Ikigai. I wanted to be of service, find what I could contribute, and at the same time, help with our finances. That’s when I considered entering the wedding industry.
I knew it wouldn’t be easy. In fact, I was nervous, but I faced my fears head-on. I wasn’t even sure if I could make it, but I fervently prayed, and God answered my prayers. Just a month after my wedding, I had the opportunity to assist at a wedding here in Austin, and to my surprise, during that gig, I discovered a gift I never knew I had—decorating and creating floral arrangements. I went home that night feeling joyful and fulfilled.
From that moment on, I continued assisting at weddings and honing my skills in floral arrangements. Again, it wasn’t an easy path. But through it all, I remain truly grateful for the experiences that have shaped me into who I am today. I also dedicated time to learning wedding styling, coordination, and planning—continuously sharpening my newfound talents and refining my expertise.
As months passed, my confidence grew. I believed I could succeed—with God’s help, my husband’s relentless support, my can-do attitude, my diligence and patience, and my love for both my work and my clients.
Long story short, Donna Event Styling LLC, also known as Your Helping Hand Bestie, was born. Everything fell into place, and here I am today—thriving and still loving what I do, especially the continuous learning journey along the way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not, The first few months starting our company, we’re not booking a lot of weddings. Very few. And as a budding business owner, I am still figuring out how things should work out and do it properly.

Your Helping Hand Bestie was born out of a deep sense of purpose. That’s why, even during difficult times, we persevere—because for us, this isn’t just work; it’s a labor of love and service to our clients.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
First and foremost is integrity—assuring my clients that, even in the stressful moments of wedding planning, I will stand by them and deliver on my promises. Staying true to my word allows them to trust me, knowing that I have their backs every step of the way.
Second, I believe in always going the extra mile, no matter what. You’d be surprised how kindness and effort have a way of coming back to you, often when you least expect it.
Lastly, I’ve embraced the mindset that there’s more than enough to go around. I’ve never hesitated to recommend fellow vendors when I’m already booked for the same day a new client reaches out—because fostering collaboration and support within the industry benefits everyone
