Check Out Tiffany Leschber’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Leschber.

Hi Tiffany , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We started in 2016 with a desire to empower women, support women-owned businesses, give back to the community with scholarships, and create networking opportunities.

We continue to work on those things while also creating spaces for personal and professional wellness through hosting 5ks to get the community running, while raising money to invest in education. We collaborate with other nonprofits in town to volunteer our time and resources, and look to mentor young ladies at the local high school.

Although the priorities are ever evolving, the theme of empowering women has stayed the same.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been obstacles and challenges along the way, like you would expect with life! Between learning how to adapt during the pandemic to finding that balance of finding new leaders with new ideas, while also having our seasoned leaders who have been committed long-term. As Women, our lives are full of work, family, friends, our own self-care, church etc., and making sure that our mission still resonates, is fruitful, and fresh so that people want to volunteer their precious time to a precious cause!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are known for our annual events, which raise both funds and awareness for
important causes. Some of the standout events include Hutto’s Got Talent and Girls
Night Out, at times with some lively Karaoke, all designed to foster a sense of fun and
community spirit. But there is also a strong focus on giving back. The alliance organizes
volunteer opportunities in partnership with other nonprofits, offers networking and
mentoring events, and donates gifts to families in need during the holidays. One of their
largest fundraising efforts is the Springtime Hippo Stampede 5K, which helps fund
scholarships for Hutto ISD students. Additionally, the HWA raises money for the Anne
Cano Memorial Grant, which supports adult women who wish to continue their
education, whether through a GED, certification programs, or further studies.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
We plan on developing a breast cancer awareness event. We have lost a dear founding member to breast cancer, Anne Cano, and we were able to start a memorial grant in her name, but her experience is a reminder that most everybody has known somebody impacted by breast cancer, and this is particularly plaguing for women. If we could help bring awareness in our small community, we believe it could be life and therefore community-changing.
