Daily Inspiration: Meet Nicole Boan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Boan.

Hi Nicole, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve worked with skincare since 2011, working in med spas, with dermatologists and more and in 2019, I was seeing clients on the side at my house and I wanted to work for myself. I decided to step out on my own, with only a handful of clients. I quickly tripled my clientele in a year. During Covid, I decided to make my social media presence a place to have education and reach out to people to help them with their skin, and started selling at home kits and home care and when we were able to open back up, my books were completely full. Since 2019 I’ve expanded my business, I have a full time esthetician that works under me, and I travel back to austin once a month to see my regular clients along with new clients. I currently live in Charlotte, NC where I have just opened my second location that’s growing!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning a small business isn’t always easy. You always have to be willing to make pivots and adjustments. I thought I wanted several employees, but being away from austin it’s harder to have a brand that people who work for you understand. Our industry is ever growing and changing. You always have to stay on top of the new trends, new formulas and new innovations in the skincare realm. It does make it more fun that way, but it’s also not a cheap industry. I found that truly focusing on what my brand is and things that work really well on client’s skin, is a hate most important to stick with, stay on top of the best practices and sticking with the path. The economy has taken a dip recently too, which has been a little hard but still going and putting in the work to keep building.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in corrective skincare: inflamed acne, hormonal acne, scarring, pigmentation and aging. I work with DMK enzyme therapy which is the true oxygen therapy that works with the body to help restore homeostasis, and repair the skin function.
I am most proud of some of my work that’s been featured in the DMK education and the progress that I have had with some of my clients. I was voted top 3 med spa in austin fit’s best of in 2024 as a solo esthetician which was pretty amazing.
My approach with my clients is about creating relationships and trust, and I try and go over and above to help each and every client feel comfortable and trust me, rather than just another facial in and out.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I was a swimmer in the neighborhood where I grew up with all of my friends- summers spent going to swim practice and living at the pool daily were some of the funnest.
