Daily Inspiration: Meet Efosa Ojomo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Efosa Ojomo.

Hi Efosa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am popularly known as Efzo and Efzo is my artistic name!

My Story: Music has always been a part of me. Growing up, I was drawn to rhythms, melodies, and the emotions they could evoke. My journey started with a deep love for sound, whether it was playing the piano, experimenting with beats, or writing songs that spoke to real-life experiences.

I began creating music in a small setup, driven by passion rather than resources. Over time, I honed my craft, blending Afro pop and R&B with rich cultural rhythms, giving my music a sound that’s both deeply personal and universally relatable. Songwriting became my storytelling tool, allowing me to express themes of love, identity, struggle, and transformation.

My breakthrough moments came through consistency, releasing songs, performing live, and connecting with audiences who resonated with my sound. One of my most notable projects, my EP featuring Yes O Yes and Love Me Right, gained traction, and my new release “Gimme this love” solidifying my presence in the industry. From there, I expanded not only as an artist but also as a producer and studio engineer, ensuring that my sound remained authentic and true to my vision.

Relocating to Austin has been another chapter in my journey, offering new inspiration and opportunities. Today, I continue to push boundaries, blending musical innovation with heartfelt storytelling. Through my music, I aim to create moments, songs that lift the soul, bring joy, and leave a lasting impact.

The journey is still unfolding, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been anything but smooth, but every challenge has shaped me into the artist I am today. One of the biggest struggles was breaking into the music industry as an independent artist. Without the backing of a major label, I had to build everything from the ground up, investing in my own studio, learning music production, and handling promotions myself. There were times when resources were limited, and I had to wear multiple hats just to get my music heard.

Another major challenge was balancing creativity with business. Making great music is one thing, but understanding marketing, distribution, and branding is a whole different game. I had to learn how to navigate the industry, build an audience, and make my music sustainable.

Relocating to Austin also came with its own set of challenges. Moving to a new environment meant rebuilding my network and reintroducing my music to a fresh audience. But I see every challenge as a stepping stone, each setback has pushed me to grow, innovate, and refine my sound.

Despite the struggles, my passion for music has never wavered. Every obstacle has been a lesson, and I’m grateful for the journey. I believe persistence, faith, and hard work will always open new doors.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an artist, songwriter, music producer, and studio engineer, blending Afro pop and R&B with rich cultural rhythms and modern innovation. My music is deeply personal yet universally relatable, touching on themes of love, identity, struggle, and transformation.

What sets me apart is my ability to craft music from the ground up. I don’t just write and perform, I produce, mix, and master my own records, ensuring that every sound aligns with my creative vision. My music carries a unique energy, a soul-lifting vibe that resonates across different audiences. Whether it’s an upbeat anthem like Yes O Yes or a heartfelt song like Love Me Right, my goal is always to create an emotional connection with listeners.

One of my proudest achievements has been releasing an EP that showcases my artistic range. The reception, the love from fans, and the ability to touch lives through my music remind me why I started in the first place. Beyond my own artistry, I also love helping other artists bring their vision to life in the studio.

Music, to me, is more than just sound, it’s an experience, a story, and a feeling. That’s what I strive to bring to every song I create.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
One of the things I love most about Austin is its vibrant music culture. The city has an incredible energy—live music is everywhere, and there’s a real appreciation for artistry and creativity. It’s a place where musicians can thrive, collaborate, and find inspiration. The diversity in sound, from indie rock to, Pop, hip-hop and Afrobeat, makes it an exciting place to be as an artist. Plus, the food scene is amazing, there’s nothing like enjoying some great barbecue after a long studio session!

If I had to pick something I like least, I’d say the traffic can be a challenge, especially during peak hours. And, of course, the Texas heat can be intense! But overall, the positives far outweigh the negatives, and Austin has been a great place for growth, both personally and professionally.
