Today we’d like to introduce you to Narjis Rachad.
Narjis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I came to barre3 after over a decade in the corporate finance world, seeking a more fulfilling way to connect with people and stay grounded through movement. When I discovered barre3, it felt like coming home. The blend of strength, mindfulness, and community sparked something in me. I knew then that I wanted to create a space where others could experience that same connection.
That vision became a reality when I purchased the studio and this year, we’re celebrating our 8-year anniversary. Every class, every milestone, and every smiling client continues to remind me why I started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any meaningful journey, it hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Transitioning from the corporate finance world to small business ownership came with a steep learning curve especially in a people-centered, service-driven environment like barre3.
Some of the biggest challenges have included navigating staffing changes, adapting to new software systems, and managing day-to-day operations. Balancing the demands of running a business, raising three wonderful girls, and being an engaged community leader can feel overwhelming at times.
But every challenge has pushed me to grow both personally and professionally. The tough moments have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of community support. And through it all, my passion for this work has never wavered.
We’ve been impressed with Barre3 Austin Mueller, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the owner of a barre3 studio in Austin Mueller, where I lead a team of instructors and front desk staff, oversee daily operations, and create a space where people feel cherished, supported, and empowered. My background is in corporate finance, but I transitioned into the wellness world to pursue something more heart-centered and community-focused.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend structure with empathy. I’m deeply analytical from my finance days, but equally driven by the emotional intelligence needed to run a people-first business. I’m most proud of the inclusive and welcoming culture we’ve built at the studio. Clients often tell us they come for the workout but stay for the community and that’s exactly the environment I always dreamed of creating.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the incredible support of so many people.
My mentors have been instrumental, especially during the early days of studio ownership when I was navigating a completely new industry. Their guidance helped me make confident decisions and avoid costly mistakes.
My team past and present has also played a huge role. Their dedication, creativity, and passion for what we do have shaped the culture of the studio and helped bring our vision to life every day.
And of course, our clients. Their loyalty, feedback, and energy are what keep this community thriving. Many of them have become dear friends, cheerleaders, and constant reminders of why this work matters.
Lastly, my family especially my husband and my three girls has been my grounding force. Their belief in me and willingness to adapt to the demands of small business ownership have been invaluable.
