Conversations with Liz Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Jones.

Hi Liz, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in the heart of Illinois, where cattle, country roads, and strong family values shaped the core of who I am. My family has been raising cattle for generations, and it’s more than just a livelihood—it’s a legacy. To this day, my parents and I still raise cattle together, and as a family, we steward several operations: Prairie Rose Cattle Company, Prairie Cross Ranches, and American Natural Beef.

That upbringing taught me hard work, discipline, and the beauty of living close to the land. But more importantly, it laid the foundation for my faith and my desire to live intentionally—honoring God in the everyday moments and stewarding what He’s given us well.

Today, I’m a wife and mama to two little girls, and we’re building a life in Texas that reflects the values I was raised with: faith, family, and simple, grounded living. While we don’t have milk cows (yet!), we support local farmers by buying raw milk and sourcing whole foods from people we trust. We’re passionate about knowing where our food comes from and feeding our family the way God intended—close to the earth, with gratitude and care.

Homesteading to me is more than just chickens and gardens—it’s a mindset. It’s choosing slowness in a world that glorifies hustle. It’s raising our children with truth, working with our hands, and living in a rhythm that honors both creation and the Creator. This life isn’t always easy, but it’s rich in purpose, and I’m so grateful for every piece of the story that got me here.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My life hasn’t always been easy—but it hasn’t been hard either. I was raised in a loving home in Illinois, surrounded by family who cared deeply, worked hard, and showed up for each other. Of course, we walked through our fair share of trials—no life is without its storms—but even in the hard moments, I always knew I was loved and supported.

Raising cattle wasn’t just part of our lifestyle—it was a foundation for who I became. It taught me responsibility at a young age: that animals rely on you even when it’s freezing, when you’re tired, or when you’d rather be doing something else. It taught me the value of consistency, the dignity in hard work, and the kind of perseverance that sticks with you long after the sun goes down.

Now, as an adult raising my own children and building a life rooted in those same values, I see how all of that shaped me. I’m not afraid of long days, I’m not looking for shortcuts, and I know how to find joy in the simple, unseen moments.

It’s been a rewarding journey—not because it’s been picture-perfect, but because it’s been real. There’s so much purpose in a life built with intention, and I wouldn’t trade the lessons or the legacy for anything.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Even though I’ve spent most of my life raising cattle and living close to the land, I’ve also walked the path of content creation and influencing on Instagram. And truthfully, both have been deeply rewarding in their own ways. One is raw, hands-on, and grounded in generations of hard work. The other is creative, fast-moving, and has opened doors I never expected—connecting me with people, brands, and stories far beyond the fences of our ranch.

But over time, I’ve realized that each path teaches you something different. Ranching has taught me patience, resilience, and a deep respect for life’s natural rhythms. Influencing has taught me storytelling, entrepreneurship, and how to find beauty in the everyday. But it’s also shown me the other side—how heavy social media can feel when the world is loud and divided, how easy it is to lose yourself in the scroll, and how hard it is to guard your heart and your family in that space.

Since becoming a mother, my perspective has shifted. The world feels different now. My priorities have changed. I’ve taken a step back from the constant push of influencing because I want to be fully present—with my girls, in our home, on our land. That doesn’t mean I’ve let go of that side of me completely, but I’ve learned to hold it with open hands.

Because at the end of the day, whether I’m out feeding cattle or sharing a moment online, I want to live with intention. And I want my daughters to see that no matter the path, the most rewarding life is the one where your heart stays rooted in what really matters.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think both the agricultural and influencer industries are shifting in big ways—and honestly, I’m excited for it. In ranching and food production, people are becoming more aware of where their food comes from. There’s a growing desire to know their farmer, understand how animals are raised, and support local, regenerative practices. I see a real movement back to small-scale, transparent farming, and I think consumers will continue to seek out trusted, values-driven sources of meat and produce—especially as food systems get more industrialized.

On the influencer side, I believe people are craving authenticity more than ever. The perfectly curated, polished content isn’t resonating like it used to. There’s a shift toward realness—faith-filled homes, slow living, motherhood with all its raw edges. And while the algorithm might still favor trends and fast content, I think the long game belongs to those who stay true to who they are.

I also see more creators pulling back a little from constant sharing to protect their peace and families—especially moms. There’s a growing awareness that influence doesn’t have to come at the cost of privacy or presence. And I think that’s a really healthy change.

So whether it’s in agriculture or content creation, I see people moving toward intention, integrity, and real connection—and that gives me a lot of hope.
