Daily Inspiration: Meet Justin Parker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Parker.

Hi Justin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey with camera work started when I was six years old, operating the camera at my church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I was always known as the family photographer or videographer — even if it meant using my Nintendo 3DS to capture the moment. In high school, I served as the sports editor for the yearbook staff, which only deepened my interest in visual storytelling.

After graduating, I joined the Navy and served aboard the USS Constitution in Boston, MA. While stationed there, I worked as a Public Affairs Officer, producing promo videos, conducting interviews, and covering major events throughout the Boston area. That experience gave me a deeper understanding of how powerful media can be in shaping public perception and telling important stories.

When I left the military, I returned to school to study government. I was heavily involved in my community and passionate about public service, but I always felt like I was running from my first love — film. Eventually, I gave myself permission to pivot and enrolled in film school, where I immediately felt at home.

In one of my early classes, I met an incredible crew of creatives and we instantly clicked. I launched Parker Film House soon after and began inviting them to work with me on small projects. Right away, I knew I wanted to build something with all of them — a collective where our skills, vision, and drive could grow together. That was the beginning of what is now Parker Film House.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — building Parker Film House has been full of lessons, challenges, and a lot of growing pains. One of the hardest parts early on was handling the administrative side of the business. As a creative, I had a strong instinct for storytelling and production, but learning how to manage payroll, contracts, scheduling, and budgeting was a different beast. I had to develop those skills quickly and understand that structure and organization are just as essential as creative vision.

Personnel decisions were another tough area. Figuring out how to build the right team, when to make changes, and how to maintain a healthy creative culture took time. Letting people go or shifting roles can be difficult, but it’s been necessary to keep the company focused, efficient, and aligned with our goals.

Creatively, I also had to evolve. In the beginning, I approached every project with the same lens, but as we started working with larger-scale clients and more diverse storytelling needs, I realized each project demands a tailored approach. What works for a fast-paced music video won’t necessarily fit a corporate campaign or branded docuseries. Gaining those insights and learning to adapt while still preserving our core identity has been huge for our growth.

I’ve also been fortunate to have mentors and supporters I could turn to during those challenging moments. Professors like Abram Cerda and Dr. Mark Cunningham at Austin Community College have been incredible resources, always willing to offer advice or a different perspective. I’m also especially grateful to Charles Barksdale, Director of Production at Rose Rock Entertainment, for his guidance and encouragement as I’ve navigated new opportunities and industry challenges.

At the end of the day, the road hasn’t been easy, but every challenge has taught me something — and I’m proud of how far we’ve come.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Parker Film House, we specialize in full-service video production from concept development to final delivery. Our work covers a wide range of formats including music videos, branded content, documentaries, commercials, and event coverage. We’ve become known for our cinematic approach, quick turnarounds, and the ability to adapt our creative lens to fit each unique story.

One of the things that truly sets us apart is our team. We have multiple drone pilots, which allows us to offer high-quality aerial cinematography in-house. We also own a full range of professional equipment from cameras and lighting to audio and grip gear which gives us the flexibility to scale productions up or down without compromising quality. This means we’re never limited by access, and we’re always ready to tackle challenging environments or unconventional projects.

But beyond the gear and the visuals, what I’m most proud of is the environment we’ve built. This is a film house in every sense, a creative home. We foster a welcoming, collaborative space where clients feel comfortable, heard, and respected. Whether it’s someone’s first time on set or a seasoned artist or executive, we make sure people feel at home when they work with us. That’s why so many of our clients come back not just for the quality of the work, but for how they’re treated throughout the process.

We don’t shy away from anything, we love a challenge, and we love helping people bring their vision to life. At Parker Film House, you’re not just hiring a production company. You’re joining a creative partnership built on trust, passion, and community.

What are your plans for the future?
Right now, we’re really excited about what’s ahead. One of the biggest changes coming soon is the opening of our Parker Film House headquarters, a permanent location here in Austin. Having a dedicated space has been a long-time goal, and we’re finally bringing it to life within the next few months. The new HQ will be a creative hub: a place to shoot, edit, collaborate, host clients, and build community under one roof.

We’re also approaching our one-year anniversary, which is a major milestone. In less than a year, we’ve grown from an idea into a full-fledged production company, and we’ve had the opportunity to work on a wide range of incredible projects. That growth has been both humbling and motivating.

Looking ahead, one of the most exciting things we’re working on is a reality TV show currently in pre-production. This series will spotlight Austin not just as a location, but as a living, breathing character — rich with culture, creativity, and diversity. We’re bringing together talent from all backgrounds across the city, and using the show as a platform to highlight both the people and the energy that make Austin special.

As part of that project, we’re actively looking for local businesses to partner with. There will be opportunities for sponsorship, product placement, and on-screen features that align with the show’s values of authenticity, artistry, and community. It’s a great way for businesses to get involved in something that shines a light on the heart of Austin.
Beyond that, we’re continuing to grow our commercial and branded content work, expand our team, and push creative boundaries. We want Parker Film House to be known not just for beautiful visuals, but for the relationships, energy, and originality we bring to every project. And truthfully — we’re just getting started.
