It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — and honestly, I wouldn’t expect it to be. In the beginning, just getting our first few customers was a grind. I was knocking on doors, following up on leads that went nowhere, and doing everything I could to get the name out there. You really have to prove yourself when you’re new — especially in a city like Austin where people have a lot of options.
Once we started building momentum, the next challenge was keeping up with the demand without compromising quality. I had to learn how to juggle everything — scheduling, quotes, actual fieldwork, customer support — while also growing a team that shared the same values. Weather was another curveball. Gutter work and roofing don’t pause when a storm hits — in fact, that’s when people need you most. So you learn to adapt, work smart, and communicate even better.
The biggest lesson through it all has been this: if you take care of people, they’ll take care of you. Every challenge we faced just reinforced that we’re not just in the business of gutters — we’re in the business of helping people feel secure in their homes.
