Conversations with Miguel Wom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miguel Wom.

Hi Miguel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Tattooing wasn’t just a career choice for me, it was a natural evolution of my passion for art and storytelling. What began as sketching and experimenting on my own quickly turned into a serious commitment to mastering the craft.

Over the years, I’ve developed my own style while exploring surrealism , realism, and experimental designs. Every tattoo I create is a mix of solid technique and genuine storytelling. This path has been a mix of discipline, creativity, and constant learning and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all like most creative paths, it’s been full of challenges. In the beginning, finding the right mentors and opportunities to grow was tough. I had to prove myself constantly, often with limited resources and no clear roadmap.

But I believe easy roads rarely lead to the best version of yourself. It took a lot of time, discipline, and dedication to evolve both as an artist and as a professional. Working with realism, in particular, pushed me further; it’s a demanding style that requires patience, precision, and constant practice. Every struggle helped me sharpen my skills and define my way. Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in high-contrast realism with surrealist influences, built on precise detail and a strong visual impact. Technically, I often work with opaque greys to create rich depth and smooth transitions, giving each piece a solid, almost sculptural presence on the skin. My style blends sharp contrasts and defined textures with a personal, powerful aesthetic.

What I’m most proud of is having developed a signature look that reflects who I am as an artist. It’s taken years of dedication and refinement, but that unique identity is what sets my work apart. I aim to create tattoos that are both visually striking and emotionally meaningful, timeless pieces that resonate with the person wearing them.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
My favorite book is the Art of war sun tzu
