Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Norris.
Hi Chloe, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I didn’t start my journey in the creative world—I started in the sciences. I majored in biology with a pre-veterinary focus and minored in chemistry at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, fully expecting to go to vet school. But after going through the application process and not getting in, I had a choice: reapply or reflect. And during that time of reflection, I realized there was another part of me I had been quietly nurturing all along—my creative side.
Whether it was school projects, visual storytelling, or just finding ways to make everyday things look and feel more intentional, I’ve always loved creating. That realization led me to explore graphic design and digital marketing—fields where strategy and creativity go hand-in-hand. To bridge the gap between my passion and experience, I enrolled in a digital marketing bootcamp through the University of Texas at Austin. It was a four-month, immersive online program that helped me build a strong foundation in content strategy, social media, and the aesthetic principles behind strong digital design. I’ve also developed a love for things like branding, website building, and creating visual assets that help bring ideas to life.
Since completing the program, I’ve been working for a digital marketing consultant, helping manage content and support the online presence of clients such as remodelers, interior designers, and home builders. It’s been a rewarding path that allows me to blend creativity, strategy, and thoughtful execution—all while continuing to grow in a field I’m passionate about.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not exactly—but I think that’s what makes the journey meaningful. Shifting from a science-based path to a creative one wasn’t easy. For a long time, I felt like I was “starting over,” and that brought on a lot of self-doubt. I had spent a lot of time preparing for vet school, only to realize it might not be the right path for me after all. Letting go of that plan—and the identity I had built around it—was tough.
Stepping into a new industry without a formal degree in design or marketing also meant I had to work harder to prove myself, gain experience, and build confidence in my skills. Enrolling in the digital marketing bootcamp was a leap of faith, but it gave me the tools and structure I needed to move forward. Even now, there’s still a learning curve, but every challenge has pushed me to get clearer on what I enjoy, what I’m good at, and how I want to grow.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work in digital marketing and content creation, helping bring clarity and consistency to the online presence of brands—primarily in the home industry, like remodelers, interior designers, and home builders. I assist with everything from content strategy to visual design to social media management. While I didn’t come from a traditional design or marketing background, I think that’s part of what gives my work a unique perspective. I approach projects with intention—making sure everything we create isn’t just visually appealing, but also rooted in strategy and aligned with how a brand wants to be perceived.
I’m most proud of how quickly I’ve learned to adapt and contribute in a meaningful way. Coming into a fast-moving, creative field from a science background was intimidating at first, but I’ve embraced the learning curve and found real joy in being part of the work that helps clients feel seen and understood online.
What sets me apart is my eye for detail, my ability to think like the end user, and my genuine love for both the creative, strategic, and psychological sides of what I do. I care a lot about how things look—but even more about why they’re being created, who they’re meant to reach, and how they will be perceived among others.
What does success mean to you?
To me, success isn’t about having it all figured out—it’s about growing into the kind of person and professional I want to be. It means waking up excited about the work I’m doing, feeling aligned with my values, and knowing that I’m building something with purpose. Success looks like small wins that add up over time—creating something I’m proud of, helping someone feel more confident in their brand, or learning a new skill that pushes me forward.
It’s not about perfection—it’s about progress, creativity, and continuing to choose a path that feels true to who I am.
