We recently had the chance to connect with Emily Lain Jasek and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Emily , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is waking up early to get my kiddos ready for school and their day. I dive them to their school which is Valor South Austin. From there I go to my clinic in Kyle. I see and treat our community whether it is through chiropractic, functional health, weightloss and more. Usually after that, I am getting my kids and taking them to their various practices for sports.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Emily Jasek. I am a chiropractic, functional health practitioner and weight loss provider in Kyle Texas. I am the sole provider at Benevida Chiropractic and Wellness and have been there for 11 years but practicing for 15. I am part owner of the business with my parents (Jeanne and Bill Lain) and my sister (Melissa Medina). We offer many services including but not limited to: chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture, weight loss, functional health and stretching. We have a family practice treating many prenatal and pediatric patients to now being an out patient clinic for the Veterans Affairs office. This is a big step for us because we hold a special place for our veterans and first responders. I became a chiropractor with a desire to help our community live a more fulfilled life without adding chemicals to our systems. I personally suffered from migraines that started when I was in high school that become debilitating very fast. I was allergic to all the medications and the side effects became significant enough that we had to stop them. I was introduced to chiropractic and began treatment at that time. Within 6 months of regular care, my migraines were gone. It was then that I shifted my focus to natural medicine and began my journey to becoming a chiropractor. I have never looked back with question and love seeing people’s lives change.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I would say my mom did. She came from a family of 6 kids being the only girl. When we moved to Texas she started working with the State. I watched her show us work ethic and what it meant to be a good employee. She has never looked for a hand out, or wanted for more. She has always recognized the gifts that have been provided and acknowledged what a blessing our lives have been. Giving all the love and gratitude to God.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I would say fear of failure. I know that is a common one but I have had some pretty significant things thrown at me that have made have to work harder then some of my peers. I have often thought about trying to do things more simple and just not be “as good” but then I find myself trying to do more and more. Grow more and more. I am not perfect and I don’t have all the answers. I may fail but I want to be a role model to my kids that even if I do fail, I can move on knowing that I tried. My mom always says “its a definite no if you don’t try”
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
That my God is all powerful and the grace that He gives is never deserved but we should strive to be better enough that we might, just might get closer to deserving that grace. I protect my belief as a Christian at all cost. I don’t waiver to that of the opinions of others but I will respect others always.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Oh gosh that is a hard one. I think they would miss that our office isn’t just an office but a place of comfort, peace and family. I try to treat each patient with the utmost respect and make sure the feel ‘heard’. I tell patients all the time that if I don’t know, I will work to get the answer.
