Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Aguilar.
Hi Dan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The story of Austin Vibes AV has been a fun one over the past few years! One of my favorite memories was when I was heading to a client site in North Carolina (we bring Austin Vibes wherever it’s needed). My flight got delayed. so I headed to an airport lounge to grab a bite and a beverage. I got to talking to a gentlemen and we were having a blast discussing all of our experiences, our respective businesses, and what was next for us.
We learned that we both shared the love of building experiences in our homes. He had studied design and spent his life building the most unique backyard entertainment areas with this unique perspective where one area should always be in the eye sight of the next entertainment area to tantalize the senses and build interest to explore.
We always loved the art of building experiences, but it was ever so refreshing to hear someone else that was so passionate about it as we are. It was truly a wonderful experience.
We exchanged information and ended up building one of my favorite designs including automated window treatments, full home audio system (indoor and landscape), multiple home theater rooms with my favorite French speakers Focal, controlled lighting and, of course, came in during the construction phase and wired the home based off of the unique design.
I believe that story sums up the journey of Austin Vibes AV so far. We put our passion at the forefront and let that energy attract whomever vibes with what we are passionate about doing. We’re building experiences for your most important place in your life: your home.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
“Smooth seas never made a skilled sailor.” We probably ran into the most issues an early stage AV company could run into during our first few projects. One that comes to mind was an existing new build that wanted to run new wires to every part of their new home for networking purposes, TVs, in-ceiling speakers, and outdoor speakers. Luckily. it was a one story home so typically in our world thats a cakewalk.
Boy, were we in for a treat. After running our wires, another trade came in to do some additional work and ended up cutting about 75% of wires, which we didn’t find out until we had already installed all of the speakers and networking access points.
As you can imagine, no one was happy with this situation and, since we were the only ones left in the house, we had to roll with the punches and make things right. Things happen all of the time, so you need to be able to adapt. Having these little bumps happen in the early days always lead to laughs years later, so it’s always fun to look back on things and smile on what used to be a huge deal for us.
We’ve been impressed with Austin Vibes AV, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Austin Vibes AV is all about bringing a great experience to your home, which is something I’m passionate about. Personally, I started my career working in tech for a little over a decade before diving into the home automation world as a silent partner for a few years. I learned a lot of the rights and wrongs of building a successful AV Company. When the opportunity arose to build something on my own, I took it and haven’t looked back since. I originally started Austin Vibes with my lovely partner, Lauren, who was there in the early days and has helped build Austin Vibes where it is today.
At Austin Vibes, we proudly provide tailored solutions designed to elevate your home and lifestyle, which includes distributed audio systems, home theater design, smart home integration, and outdoor entertainment spaces. Many people will forget about the audio and visual aspects when building or remodeling their home, but bringing it into the process early creates a smooth and seamless process. It also creates an elevated home space and one we hope you love to be in.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Always think about low voltage and home automation while you’re in the building phase of a new home, or if you’re remodeling while the walls are down to the studs. We get so many calls from homeowners who want to do some exciting stuff, but are limited because they (understandably) don’t want to have to take walls down or do any damage to their home.
We offer design services for our clients and work with their architects, designers, and/or builders to create the desired experience our clients are going for. The trick is to start thinking about your Low Voltage and Home Automation early to save time and money done the line, but most importantly be able to have the experience you want first and foremost and not have to settle down the line.
There’s truly no project too big or too small, just a little imagination. Home Automation is such a broad industry that pricing truly comes down to the home owner and what they’re looking to do. We take pride in what we do and always leave our clients happy and willing to share work with their friends and family.
Pricing:
- Pricing for our bronze package would fall into the $3-5k ballpark depending on the number of rooms.
- Pricing for our platinum package would fall into the $9-11k ballpark depending on the number of rooms.
