Exploring Life & Business with Kiki Gordon of Post Operative Pathways

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiki Gordon.

Hi Kiki, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Kiki Gordon, and my journey has been shaped by service, resilience, and the desire to help others heal. For over 21 years, I proudly served our local Sheriff’s department. That experience gave me not only discipline and strength, but also a deep understanding of what it means to show up for people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

My personal journey took a new turn when I discovered that I carry the BRCA gene, a hereditary marker that significantly increases the risk of breast cancer. This became even more personal because my two sisters are breast cancer survivors. Walking alongside them through their battles opened my eyes to the emotional, physical, and financial toll recovery can take, not only on the patient, but on their entire family.

Out of these experiences, I founded Premier Recovery Aftercare and the nonprofit Post-Operative Pathways in Austin. These organizations are dedicated to helping individuals, especially women recovering from breast cancer and reconstructive procedures, find safe, compassionate care during their healing journey. We have supported countless breast cancer patients in the Austin area who are underserved, facing financial hardships, or lacking adequate support following breast cancer surgery and/or reconstruction. We provide more than just recovery spaces; we provide transportation, meals, emotional support, and a sense of community.

My previous career gave me the heart of a protector. My family’s story gave me the fire to make a difference. And today, my mission is to ensure that no woman feels alone or unsupported after surgery, regardless of her financial situation.

I believe that healing is more than just physical. It’s emotional, mental, and spiritual. Through Premier Recovery Aftercare and Post-Operative Pathways, I want every client and patient to know they are seen, valued, and supported every step of the way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. The vision behind Post-Operative Pathways and Premier Recovery Aftercare is big, and the need is even bigger. One of the greatest challenges has been funding. There are a significant number of patients who desperately need these services. Patients who are recovering from breast cancer surgeries, reconstruction procedures, and other medically necessary procedures, but many simply cannot afford the care and support that makes a safe recovery possible.

Trying to address the shortfall has been both rewarding and challenging. On one hand, the demand affirms how vital this service is. On the other, the financial reality makes it difficult to keep up with the growing need. Securing donations, sponsorships, and grants requires persistence, and at times it feels like an uphill battle.

Yet, every obstacle has fueled my determination. I’ve learned to get creative with resources, to build strong community partnerships, and to share my story vulnerably so others understand the impact we can make together. I remind myself often: if even one person has a safer, more dignified recovery because of our work, then the struggles are worth it.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Premier Recovery Aftercare and Post-Operative Pathways were both born from the belief that no one should go through recovery alone. We specialize in post-operative care for patients recovering from breast cancer and reconstruction procedures. What sets us apart is that we don’t just provide a place to stay, we provide a comprehensive recovery experience. Our services include transportation, healthy meals, 24-hour care, emotional support, and even specialized services such as lymphatic drainage.

We are most proud of creating a space that feels safe, nurturing, and dignified for every client. Many of the women we serve are going through one of the most vulnerable times of their lives, and our goal is to help them heal not only physically but emotionally as well.

None of this would be possible without the support of the incredible surgeons and medical professionals in Austin who trust us with their patients. Surgeons such as Dr. Christine Fisher, Dr. Ned Snyder, and many others across Austin have been instrumental. Their commitment to patient care and their belief in our mission allow us to stand in the gap and provide the aftercare that truly completes the recovery process.

What I want readers to know is that our brand is built on compassion, community, and commitment to our patients health. We are here to make recovery more accessible, safe, and supportive. Whether it’s through Premier Recovery Aftercare or our nonprofit, Post-Operative Pathways, we want everyone to know they are not alone,we are walking this journey with them.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is growing up with my sisters. We were all we had, and our bond was everything. No matter what we faced, we leaned on each other for support, laughter, and love. Those long days and nights together built not only memories, but also the strength and resilience that carry me through life today.

Our relationship taught me what it means to be strong, to fight through challenges, and to never give up on family or on myself. That foundation is a big part of why I do the work I do now, because I know firsthand the power of having someone by your side when you need it most.
