Today we’d like to introduce you to Treasure Johnson.
Hi Treasure, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a single mom originally from Detroit, Michigan, and I moved to Texas in 2012. I’ve always been a hard worker with a big heart for outreach and volunteering, and from a young age I knew my purpose in life was to help push people to become the best version of themselves.
In 2020, I lost my job during the pandemic, and while that was a difficult time, it also sparked something in me. I was determined not to let circumstances hold me back. Around that time, I saw someone grow a furniture business into a million-dollar success, and I thought if they can do it, why can’t I?
That moment inspired me to take a leap and start my own furniture restoration business. I began painting and restoring unique pieces, while continuing to volunteer in my community. Over time, I was able to furnish Austin homes with one-of-a-kind pieces that bring character and warmth to people’s lives.
From there, I officially launched my business, Unique Restorations. For me, it’s not just about furniture it’s about resilience, creativity, and giving back. I see this work as a way to combine my entrepreneurial spirit with my passion for outreach, and to inspire others by showing them that setbacks can turn into opportunities.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. A lot of the opposition I faced came from myself doubts, fears, and stepping into uncharted territory. On top of that, the economy has its ups and downs, and there were tough seasons where business slowed down, especially around holidays like Christmas.
But in those moments, I put my trust in God and leaned on my community for support. That combination gave me the strength and encouragement I needed to keep going. Along the way, I’ve learned perseverance, resilience, and the power of not walking this journey alone.

I specialize in furniture restoration. I take beat-up or discarded pieces sometimes items people are ready to throw away and transform them into something beautiful, unique, and one-of-a-kind. What I love most about this work, and what I think sets me apart, is that no piece is ever the same. Each one has its own story, and I add a touch that makes it truly original.
If you own one of my pieces, you can be confident that no one else in the world has one like it. That’s what makes me most proud that I get to create something special, sustainable, and lasting that brings new life into people’s homes.
What makes you happy?
The thing that makes me happiest is knowing that my life can positively impact others. My purpose is to push people, encourage them to be the best version of themselves, remind them of their worth, and even hold them accountable when they need it.
It also makes me happy to know that my small part plays into a much larger picture that’s why I always make time for volunteering opportunities. For me, it’s about more than just business; it’s about serving others and contributing to something greater.
