Daily Inspiration: Meet Joshua Moreno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Moreno.

Hi Joshua, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in Queens, New York, where music was always at the center of my life. I started DJing at 16, experimenting with turntables and hosting my own radio show while still in school. What began as a passion quickly turned into a calling, I realized I loved creating moments where people could connect, celebrate, and lose themselves in the music.
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to play internationally in places like Italy, Australia, and Croatia, as well as across the U.S. That experience gave me a deep appreciation for different cultures and sounds, which now shape my sets. I’ve built a reputation for finding unique records and blending genres in a way that feels fresh and unforgettable.
Today, I’m based in Austin, Texas, where I run my own entertainment business. I DJ weddings, corporate events, and private parties, always with the same goal, curating music that turns any event into an experience people remember. It’s been a journey of passion, persistence, and community, and I’m grateful to keep sharing my craft with new audiences.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most creative careers, there have been plenty of ups and downs. Early on, I faced the challenge of breaking into a competitive industry where opportunities weren’t always easy to find. Moving from New York to Austin also meant rebuilding my network and proving myself in a new city.
The pandemic was another huge hurdle, live events disappeared overnight, and I had to pivot, finding ways to stay connected with music through livestreams, content creation, and refining my business. On top of that, running a DJ business isn’t just about music, it’s about marketing, operations, and building client trust, which I had to learn step by step.
But every struggle has shaped me into who I am today. Those setbacks pushed me to think bigger, diversify my skills, and invest in creating memorable experiences for my clients. The challenges made me sharper, more adaptable, and more grateful for every opportunity to share music with people.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an artist, I specialize in curating high-energy, multicultural DJ sets that blend house, Latin rhythms, hip-hop, disco, and rare records I’ve collected over the years. What I’m most known for is creating a journey with music, my sets aren’t just playlists, they’re experiences designed to shift moods, build energy, and connect people on the dance floor.
I take pride in digging deeper for tracks that others might overlook. I love introducing people to something fresh, whether that’s a rare vinyl find from Europe or a remix that flips a familiar song in a whole new way. That curiosity has opened doors for me to perform internationally and bring global sounds back home to Austin.
What sets me apart is the combination of storytelling through music and my ability to read the crowd in real time. I see DJing as more than just mixing songs, it’s about shaping moments, whether it’s an intimate wedding, a packed nightclub, or a sunrise set at a festival. The moments I’m most proud of are when people tell me they’ll never forget how the music made them feel. That’s the real reward for me.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The best way to work with me is to bring me into your event, whether it’s a wedding, corporate gathering, private party, or nightlife experience. I love collaborating with event planners, venues, and other artists who want to create something unique and unforgettable.
For creatives, I’m always open to working on music projects, live shows, or content collaborations that push boundaries and celebrate culture.
And for anyone who simply wants to support, following my journey on Instagram and TikTok, sharing my mixes, or recommending me to a friend goes a long way. Every bit of support helps me keep building experiences that connect people through music.
